I am starting a new children's book review blog and I had chelsea at Aqua Poppy Designs put together a header, background, and banner for me. It was inexpensive and I'm thrilled with it. I haven't posted there yet, but you can check it out and link to her at my blog. readingfrombirth.blogspot.com

I designed my own blog. It is a pretty easy process, but I got so anal about it, it took me a while longer than expected. If you do end up going the DIY route, there are a bunch of how-to blogs out there. I can give you a few recommendations if you want!

Dear Mommy-momo,

I've "designed" my blog myself, without any help. I don't have any special skills, just self-taught.

I wouldn't want to give you any advise on what to do and how. I'd like to share my humble opinion only.

Do whatever you like with your blog. There are a lot of people who design a blog for you at your request, and the prices are very, very reasonable (won't break any budget!)

A lot of people will help you with buttons and layout, just use your search on this site or Google them (but here, on MomsBlogger site, there are a lot of talented women who offer such services!)

The most attractive thing for me in any blog is CONTENT! If the content is great, I'll keep visiting you again and again!

Thank you for allowing me to share what I think.

I used a free template and designed it myself (tweaks and all).. still not 100% satisfied with it..esp the header but will work on it.

I just had my blog redone by a great designer and it was really inexpensive. I think she even has templates.
I used Judith Shakes Design and you can google it to find her. (her name is Courtney

I think it depends. If you have the time and can search through themes and use some html on your own, you can make a nice blog theme fairly easily. If you want it to look a little fancier or don't have the time to learn the design aspect, there are some really god blog designers, most of them are stay at home moms who have learened how to do this, and their fees are really good. I'm having mine designed, the project starts next week. I knew how to do it but I wanted someone else to take over with an initial layout.
