I'm usually pretty savy with computer stuff. But for some reason I can't figure out how to spruce up my blog layout? I know what I want, but cant figure out how to do it. Too frustrated and impatient to REALLY give it a try. My question is... did you bloggers design your own blog layout or use somebody else? Who do you recommend?

Hi girl! I like your layout..what do you want to change about it? Do you mean background, or header or change up the columns, or create wider/thinner sidebars?? If you can describe what you are aiming for, likely we all can help you get there??

cheers!

I just go with whatever template was available. I also did my website this way. I like to be creative, but when I blog, it's more what I write that I want to stand out.
I use Ragan at Blogger Boutique. Her link is on my blog. I think she's done great work!
I designed my own and started actually started a business myself.

Hi mommy-momo! I recommend http://www.thecutestblogontheblock.com - really great designs, free and super easy to use. You can change the design with the seasons or use something perm.

I used their directions to make a 3 column blog then added their 3 column design - and I love it.

My blog was designed by my sister who just so happens to be an amazing graphic designer! I think she would do a blog make-over for anyone if they ask... oh maybe pay a little in return! Check out my layout here: http://swagstudio.blogspot.com/
Amy your blog is super cute, do you know how much your sister would charge?
This is a topic very near & dear to my heart right now. I have just this week finished my website/blog's redesign. It was a 3 month process from the moment when I talked with the designer to this past weekend when I felt like I was finally ready for the public. It was stressful, difficult, and challenging from every turn. . .but I am so glad I did it! It is 100% better than it was!! I had a separate website and blog and now I am happy that they are now incorporated in the same Wordpress theme. This is how it went for me (in list fashion because I can't help myself): 1) I decided I needed an update/some real changes. 2) I settled on a Wordpress website. 3) I began researching themes and Wordpress websites. 4) I found a theme that I liked (Revolution2 by Brian Gardner) and began reading through their forum. 5) I discovered a web designer who had used the theme and was letting people know about her latest design. - I loved it! 6) I contacted her and we began working together.

Right now, both sites are live so you can check out the "Before" site and blog and the "After" site and blog. What do you think?
Wow Jennifer, your new site looks great! And the blog too. Once question: you will keep it on .com and just transfer the design right?
Hi Jennifer,
very nice after the change.
so you changed from blogspot to wordpress.
How much did the web designer charged you for the new design?
Thanks
Mine is a combination of both. I nabbed a design that fit most of what I wanted. Then I changed the photos (they are all taken by me) and some sidebar stuff. Added some widgets and such. And, depending on what you want on your blog, and which service you use, there are tons of freebie sites out there for layouts. (and some that you can purchase as well, as I am sure you know)
