I've noticed a real difference between the way British and American bloggers promote their blogs. It seems that whilst American bloggers happily post a 'follow me i'll follow you' thread, UK bloggers tend to be a lot more discreet in their blog's marketing. This is in no way meant to sound offensive - I just found it interesting and wondered what other bloggers thought.

I see on many sites i visit for blog tips "Ask and you sahl recieve" right?
When I posted follow me follow you, I did say, follow me, that is if you like what you see. I honesly wont just follow anyone. I mean you can have a million people click that follow button but if no one is interested in your blog or even reads it, it serves no purpose. I like to look at it like planting a seed. You know, If you didn't post this question or the last lady didn't ask you to follow her, I more than likely may not have known you existed! So, In Byrdy's Eye View, I say it's cool. Im sure there will be some that think its stupid or think its like cheating or something but how else will the world know you exist if you dont tell them!. Plus. when I visit your blog to follow, Ill look at the other blogs on your site and check them out as well. That one blog might be yours!

I tend to avoid 'follow parties' mostly because I don't want to follow a blog that I don't want to read again. But I DO surf around the links on a follow party, as I find them, to see if there's anything I like. Then I comment, let them know where I'm from, and let it happen, or not. But I don't have a problem with people hosting or joining follow parties. I just don't want to link mine up and NOT follow the requested rules ("follow first 3 links, plus 3 more") if I don't like the first 3 links!

I NEVER follow a blog when someone says "follow me"...even if they say "if you like"...I think it's the same as shamelessly self promoting...when someone leaves a genuine comment on my blog without even linking their blog I'm WAY more likely to check out their blog (from their profile) than if they were to leave their link all over my comment section

Me too! I also have few enough followers that I check out all the new ones and look at their blogs, if they have one!
