My Non-Blogging Friends and Family Think Blogging Is.....

There is definitely a disconnect between those who blog and those who don't. What do your non-blogging friends and family think about blogging?

They think of it as a way for me to get "free" stuff. all they see are rewards. They never see the amount of time and work that goes into it. They think i write a couple of words and get this great item. If only it was that easy. My husband tells them "She works harder than i do for a smaller amount." In addition to blogging most of us have to manage our homes, kids, and some us run businesses as well.

Some of them find it interesting and some of them don't. The ones who find it interesting think that blogging is an essential social media tool. The ones who don't find it interesting think it is a waste of time.

My thoughts exactly! It's frustrating that I put a lot of work into securing PR relationships and great "goodies" but I get a lot of grief for spending too much time on the computer. They don't realize it's actually like a real job. I suppose unless you leave the house for work the view on this will never change....disheartening!

My husband understands it as the creative outlet it is, but because he's not a blog reader himself...I don't think he "gets" it as much as he could. He is still super supportive of my blogging, reads my blog, etc.

I recently had my aunt in town and she and my mother spent a solid hour asking the "but what is the POINT?" "why does anyone CARE?" "why do you put it out there for everyone to SEE?" questions. Oy!
