I've been using Blogger since I started and feel limited by it. Ready to make the switch to WP, but want someone who really knows what they're doing and won't charge me a small fortune.

Anybody made the switch to WP and had a good experience? Can you recommend someone to make the switch to WP for me that fits my criteria (good, reasonable)? Thanks!

Good luck w/ it. Sorry I can't help. My husband is a programmer & has a friend at work who uses WP. My husband has been talking to his friend about it more lately b/c I'm thinking about switching too, but don't know enough about it. Unfortunately, my husband really doesn't have a lot of extra time to figure it all out & teach me right now. Therefore, I'm sticking w/ Blogger at least for the time being. If we ever do figure it all out, I'll let you know!
Go here Her name is Sharon. She moved me, very patient and helpful and didn't charge an arm and a leg, LOL. She is an affiliate with a hosting company and if you purchase hosting through them it is deeply discounted or free I can't remember. Tell her I sent you.
Hi Melinda, I can help you if you still need it. -Amanda @ AmandaStock.com
Melinda,
If you have had your Blogger blog for quite a while it would honestly be best for you to keep it as is and start fresh with WP. You can keep your current rankings and place in SE's and link out to your new blog (back link opportunity for your new blog!) plus you can change the RSS on your Blogger blog to forward to your new one. It's just a thought and something I have heard a lot of people do that has worked out well. You would transfer your domain to the new WP and go back to using the original blogspot address.
That sounds like a great idea!

I have been on Wordpress for several years - there are 2 versions - the .com version is free and this is the one I use and am very happy with it. The .org version is more involved and there you create you own html and such - there is a fee there - I think you are more in control and do need to know computer and website configurations. I agree and would start a new with Wordpress and link to your current one - this way you can see if you like it. I can help with some basic questions if you need and you can check out my own blog if you like - http://therunninggarlic.wordpress.com It is very very user friendly and I love how professional it looks - you can do ALOT with it!
Just a quick mention though that the .com version of Wordpress from what I understand does not permit you to monetize your blog so be sure to read their Terms of Service before making a final decision. If your blog is for personal use only I don't see a problem with the .com version otherwise best to be safe and go with .org

The self hosted version where you need to get a hosting account like Host Gator is really quite easy to use and it's your own so you don't have the chance of having your blog deleted by a 3rd party program (like Blogger or WP.com). Just some things to think about.

Thanks, Stacie ... Did you look many subscribers when you made the switch? And did she transfer your current design (including header, sidebar content, etc) and all your blogger comments, posts and photos?

Jessica at iDesign did mine. I think she charges $75 to switch and she does everything for you. I was extremely happy with her. She knows her stuff!
