This has been a struggle for me because once I decide to aim, I start thinking about the "what-if's". Not realizing that all I need to do is just aim! In the aiming, sure I may actually hit the star but I may also fail. If I fail though, there's still hope within that because I get to learn from that mistake and try again.

You're right about aiming high. Sometimes if we just give aiming high a chance we might just succeed and if we fail, it's OK. There are worse things in the world.
We like to look at kids and their abilities to keep trying things. Sometimes we just need to "do" and not think too much about failure.
