Brainstorming time! No, it's good weather here...lol

Ok, seriously. There are 1million blogs out there. How can we stand out from the crowd? Readers are getting the same thing everytime. My articles has always been copied (with reference) elsewhere. That makes my blog same as others? Do we hold contest? Interviews? Free gifts? What do readers really want so that we can drive more traffic to our blog?

Can somebody comment if my blog is worth readership?

I am echoing everyone else. Just be who you are. My favorite blogs are the ones that make me feel like I am talking to my best friend. I love WHATEVER and Cloverlane because I could sooo see myself being friends with the writers. I would love to have lots of followers. But in the end I blog because I suck at scrap booking and I will need to proof that i was good mom to show my kids shrink :)

Lol, now THAT is a blogging idea!
Ha ha Lauren, that is funny but I agree. I like bloggers who are real and make you feel like they are talking to you and you are a good friend.
All I can say is be yourself. If you like to use articles and turn them into yours thats cool. The point, most of the time is to help others, give information. Your blog can be the source. Ive spent hours searching how to make my blog unique and popular but all I can do is write the things I like and are interested in. I take things that I learn, are going through and once I get through it I can tell someone else how to get through it or talk about what Im doing as I go through it. We all go through things and to know someone else is going through it too and/or understands is cool. Plus, you never know what product or joke, quote or bit of info you can find on another blog or site. Don't try to compete or be better than the next. A quote I like is "If you try to write for everyone, you write for no one."
Im just rambling on lol, Write what interest you, things you know and think others might want to hear. Most imortant, no one is like you so.... Be you! That's how you canmake your blog different from others.
Im following your blog. Very interesting!

Hi Christina,

I'm also in the group Everything Blogging and I want to respond to you post about the best internet marketing sites. Personally I like Aweber because there customer support is good and the layout of opt-in boxes and auto-responders is good too. I just like their style. I've tried the other marketing sites, but I didn't like their results.

I hope this helped... :-)

Here are a few sites you can explore:

Great advice Melissa C. Very good read! I am also very new to blogging and agree that content is the key. I've actually had a few companies approach me to do reviews and advertise already. I am a bit hesitant about advertising though...I have avoided it so far as I am not really interested in affiliate programs that require people to make purchases through my site and other companies must not pay attention because they have shipping to US only and I am Canadian. Ah well..it's been fun and I have a great group of ladies reading and enjoying my blog. I am also doing a few giveaways but not overwhelming "you can enter ten different ways and get 5 votes for each" to inflate the comments. I think those types of websites might have their place but they aren't for me. I have great feedback for keeping things simple.

Hi Melissa, your article is very helpful and I am very new to blogging.  Im wondering if I can tigbits on how start a blog.

Hi there! I'd say that it really boils down to good content. Contests, free gifts etc bring traffic but it doesn't bring readers, if know what I mean. I'd rather people subscribe to my site because they like what I say, not because I gave them an extra entry for doing so.

Can I give you a couple of suggestions for your blog (I'm no blogging pro but I DO have 10 years in marketing communications if that's worth anything!)?
- You have lots of ads within the posts. It makes it a little hard to read because of this.
- Overall there is a lot of text on your site but no pictures (other than ads). Would you consider putting a picture of yourself on a sidebar to add some personalization? I know some people have privacy issues with that but it would help to put a face behind the site.
- What are your goals for the site? What's your passion? I see that most everything is a shareasale link or another affiliate marketing link. It seems you're trying to build a resource for other mommies, right? That's GREAT but I do think it's harder to build a community that way. It seems most of the bloggers who follow others are reading personal stories about kids and motherhood. What I'm trying to say is you may have a much harder time building an audience that way.
- Since your site IS a resource, search engine optimization is KEY. If someone is searching for Reward Chart for example, you'll want to capitalize on that so your site comes up in the google rankings.
- Have you tried commenting on other blogs similar to yours? I find that I've gotten tons of new readers just from visiting blogs and making genuine comments on their blog (not "great post! come visit my blog..." but real comments based on their post.)

- Are you a part of communities like SITS girls and Blog Frog? I love MBC so you've already got that one covered. ;-) I've seen pretty substantial jumps in my traffic just from participating in SITS and BF these last two months.
Anyway, I hope that helps. Good luck!
I have found giveaways to work well and I have found how to articles to work.
Hi I am also interested in getting some feed back on my blogging.   My Blog can be found at marciescaringhands.weebly.com. I am looking to increase my traffic as on the site and get get some feed back on how my sites look as no one has really responded to my posts.

I am learning how to blog my self .. I have my own blog/business. Though I started actual blogging .. I am an EMT and thought that I would concentrate on the life of an EMT MOM .. with some story's negative any personal information ( Privacy Laws and protection of people's personal life ) as well as a few reviews, advertisements and supports of other mom bloggers/business. Any other ideas .. please if you would not mind taking a look at my blog http://theemtmommy.blogspot.com and let me know .. please be honest.

Hi Kirsten,

Your blog is a great resource for teaching first aid related topics. Great job and congrats on your first-aid kit for kids. You are on the right track.

There are a ton of sites that I see all the time that have the same look and feel (Cartoon character icon) and giveaways galore, blah, blah blah. If this works for you and you have readers that is great, but no matter how much it works, your blog has to always evolve and keep up. To stand out your blog has to be different then everyone else's and not mirror image another website. I didn't create my site to look exactly like yours and neither should you, but if you ever get an opportunity to have it professionally designed, take a different route and skip the cartoonish look.

Content is very important and if after all your giveaways, blog hops and other stuff (EVERYONE IS ALREADY DOING) doesn't keep actual readers, it won't do you a bit of good. Concentrate on how your blog can actually help someone else and think outside the box. I like blogs that are easy on the eyes, neat and not overloaded with thousands of banner ads and badges.  It's distracting and annoying. I want to see your content and have a reason why I should come back again and again.
