Now that we have a diagnosis for our 6-month-old daughter (Gaucher's Disease, a very rare genetic metabolic disorder), I want to do whatever I can to create awareness for this disease and eventually start doing fundraisers for research and a possible cure (or treatment if she does have type 3).

I'd love some suggestions as to what you think would be successful ways to create awareness (outside of my blog that I maintain). Have you ever had to create awareness for something or some type of event?

Also, what types of fundraisers do you think would be successful during this recession. I hate asking for money from people, but if it means saving my daughter's life, I have to try.
