I have been thinking about this (after reading a terrific article from Pursuit of Mommyness about bringing on a co-author) and wondered what your thoughts were on it.

How often do you feel you need to post on your blog?

- I know that I've felt like if I don't post every day or at least five times a week, I've failed.  I didn't even realize I had put the blogging bar so high!  It's so not necessary to post every day.  If you don't have something to say, don't force it.

No wonder I've considered bringing on a co-author or quitting blogging.  It's pressure I've put upon myself unduly.

I'm going to work on setting blogging goals for myself, and lower the bar a bit.  I have a two-year-old and a job at home - it's not realistic for me to expect a riveting post every day.  ;-)  And I want to take time to visit and comment more on favorite blogs, too.   We can bring our personality out in our blogs in our own unique ways!

I remember feeling like that in my earlier blogging days. I felt like I HAD to post every day. What I've learned though is I would rather have quality over quantity any day of the week. I see so many blogs out there which are posted on every day, but there is no substance to a lot of the posts and it doesn't make me want to go back and visit. I found that I started deleting those blogs from my reader and following and subscribing to those who had a great post even if it was only once every few weeks. With that in mind I was able to change my mindset about my own blog. Now if I put up a post on my own blog once a week or 7 times a week it's because I feel like I have something to post about, not just because I feel obligated to post.

If you do want to keep blogging regularly it may help to put together a list of things you want to blog about. Then you can put those posts together gradually and set them to post on certain days. I know a few people who spend a day putting together posts and schedule them to publish on various days during the next week. That works for them. Then they don't feel obligated to be on the computer throwing posts together whilst cooking dinner and juggling kids mid week.
I've been doing that lately - keeping track of the things I want to blog about. It does help a lot!
I used to try to do a personal post everyday but it's just too hard to keep up. Plus, there are days when nothing interesting happens around here. :-) Doing product reviews/giveaways has helped to take the pressure off of thinking of things to post about. But even that became a little too much to the point where I have about 10 other bloggers doing/posting reviews for me. I think I just need to "just say no" sometimes. :-)

I try to post 5 days a week... But I have a 2 year old and a 10 month old... And my readers knowit! Sometimes I get overwhelmed, and that's just the life of a mom. I have some reviews ready for those times :) Besides.... Sometimes life is too boring or too *inset curse word* to blog about :p

I try to post 3 - 4 times a week. I keep track of blog posting ideas and when I have the chance I will write several postings in advance and hold them "in reserve". I will then post them during dry spells or during a busy week.
