What is blogging for you? A job, a hobby, or a combination of both?

So many mom bloggers are in different phases of blogging. Some are brand-new to blogging and consider it a hobby. Other moms have been blogging for years and now consider it a hybrid between a hobby and a job. And some mom bloggers approach their blogs strictly from a business point of view.

What is blogging for you? A job, a hobby, or a combination of both?

I do it for fun and because I like hearing what people think of my projects!
First it was all about business, but right now it is a hobbie! ;-)
My blog started out as an addition to my business . . .but has now become more of a place to share my thoughts in an inspirational way. I love talking about beauty on the inside and out. I have always loved writing and used to write poetry when I was younger . . . I'm finding this to be a great outlet for me!

I am a writer, by avocation. I'd love it to be more vocational for me, but as of yet, I haven't been able to make much money writing. That's where blogging comes in. I write about something I am passionate about- frugality- and hopefully, hopefully, if enough people like what I write, I can make some money off my blog. So its a hobby that hopefully will become more of a job now.
I would be curious to see if anyone is making much money from blogging. I'm just starting out but would be curious to hear from those that started their blog has a hobby and it turned into a small income. If so, how did you get to that point? Advertising?

Thanks!

Right now blogging for me is sort of a jobby (job/hobby) It could be more of a hobjob, but I'm not sure. I make memory boards among other things, and I am trying to get followers for that blog, because obviously, I've spent quite a bit of money and time on my boards, so I want people to buy them. I just started another blog this evening that I hope will get some readers soon for creative moms in the OKC area. I know a lot of creative moms and thought we should have a place to chat, as well as post links to stores, etc. So one blog is a job, one is a hobby. I am about to start a third blog, a more personal blog regarding my views on life, etc and that will be a hobby. I don't want to monetize my blogs, because that has proven to be a bigger hassle than it's worth. In 2008 I had a blog that was featuring various brands of things, like fragrances, craft sites, etc. I got started on that because I had seen an episode on the news about a mom in OKC who was winning all sorts of things from some of the online sweepstakes. So, this of course got me started on the online sweeps. That was fun at first, but proved to be more time consuming than it was worth. I also was getting too much junk mail, and had to quit.

So, the long answer is both. I think if you could create a third category for blogging, it would be to inform. Not because it's a job or a hobby, but for me I am increasingly concerned with some things that have been going on in our country lately, and I wonder what kind of world my son may grow up in...so I'd say when I start my personal view blog it's going to be to educate. But for me that's more of a public service kind of thing...
I am new to the blogging world. I just created my blog a couple weeks ago and learning my way around. I created my blog as a hobby. A place to share my thoughts and happenings in my life. I have had a wonderful supportive and welcome to the blogging world. I would consider blogging as a job but I would still keep my personal one. I have been told I am a decent writer :)

For me blogging is something I started just three months ago, as after three years at home with my daughter and finally feeling like I was getting my act together as a Mom I decided it was time to do something for me, so I started my blog. What I did not expect was to meet so many wonderful Moms and make so many new friends in such a short space of time. Setting up the blog, being a technophobe and trying to figure it all out has given my brain a much needed work out too. So for me right now this is a hobby, one that gets me thinking and socializing and as a result has done wonders for me.
Blogging for me is a source of employment, small business/work at home; sustainability.

Blogging for me is a hobby right now. I mean, we all have that dream of being able to make money doing it & I make a little, but not enough for it to be a job. But I feel like the pressure to make money from it would make it a little less enjoyable & therefore not as sincere or authentically me. So I'm happy for it to be a hobby! It's also just a major way for me to meet & learn from other moms. That's the main reason why I started a mom blog in particular.
Blogging is a hobby for me, I am new to it and am trying to get a 'FEEL" for it.
I think I am just going to try and talk about random things, seeing as how my life IS so random.
Blogging is my full time job. I am so excited that I've reached a point where I make a full time income from my blog. (and LOVE every minute of it!)
