Who’s interested in a free book in exchange for an honest review?

I’m giving away electronic advance review copies of my next historical fiction book, Those Left Behind, in exchange for an honest review on Amazon and Goodreads. (Book blurb below.)

If you’re interested, please DM me for the Prolific Works link to claim your ARC.  I won’t be posting the link publically, and I’m keeping track of who wants a copy, so you must DM me.

If you prefer a paperback copy, I’ll be hosting a giveaway in November.

The novel is the second in a trilogy.  Each book, however, is a standalone story.  If you’d also like a review copy of Angel of Mercy, the first book in the series, let me know when you contact me.

Book Blurb:

Change isn’t always for the best. Just ask the Stewards.

1914. The Steward family is eagerly preparing for the event that will forever bind them to the Bartlettes: the wedding of Hettie and Geoffrey. Little do the families know that the winds of war brewing in Europe soon will rip them apart.

Hettie and her brother, Freddie, join the Canadian Army Medical Corps. This decision is met with resistance and disapproval, causing a rift in the siblings’ relationship with their parents.

Meanwhile, a decades-long friendship is tested, two other daughters’ marriages are in tatters, and the scourge of influenza sweeps through the civilian population.

Will the Stewards bend under pressure or become stronger and more resilient?

Those Left Behind is the second in a trilogy following Hettie and her family as they navigate the challenges and heartbreak World War 1 brings. Each novel is a standalone story. Those Left Behind is the home front story. It is a collection of slice-of-life pieces that collectively tell the story of what happened in Canada while the events in Angel of Mercy were occurring. They are based on Hettie’s letters.

I am to announce the launch of my YouTube channel. The purpose of my channel is pretty straightforward.  It gives me a forum to discuss writing, publishing, the creative process, the writers’ life, my books and anything else that comes to mind.  My channel also allows you to get to know me as more than just a byline or a photograph.

If any of these topics interest you, I hope you will consider subscribing.  My short-term goal is to surpass 100 subscribers, so YouTube will allow me to customize my URL.  Of course, any time you spend watching my videos also would be appreciated.

In Heinous: Forgotten Murders From the 1910s, you’ll travel back to a violent decade – a time when “idiots and morons” were police departments’ first suspects, when journalists had the opportunity to conduct interrogations and when forensics was in its infancy.  It also was a decade when crime of all varieties was surging, and experts blamed everything from immigration to lax parenting.

If you’re fascinated by true crime history, you’ll enjoy these 17 tales of murder and mysterious deaths.

Hettie Steward is feisty, educated, ambitious and stubborn. Hettie marries the love of her life, Geoffrey Bartlette, in spring 1914, but has difficulty accepting that marriage means sacrificing her beloved nursing career. When the Great War begins, Geoffrey enlists and Hettie eagerly accepts an opportunity to join the Canadian Army Nursing Service. Although she’s nervous about the war, returning to work was exactly what she had been craving.

The old adage “be careful what you wish for, you just might get it” proves true. Soon tragedy strikes, and Hettie’s life is steered onto a new path.

Will Hettie return home or stay in Europe and continue nursing? Will she discover the person she is meant to be?

Hi Bloggers!

Thanks to my years of motherhood, I have written a novel and would love to get the word out. If the below description is something you would be interested in reading and blogging about, contact me! The book's official release is July 27, 2019.

Inspired by the many frustrations of parenthood and the ever-present fear of failure, SHOES ON THE STAIRS centers around a mother’s struggle to accept what she has left behind after her death. She takes the reader on a journey of both laughter and tears while learning even the smallest of gestures can make a significant and lasting impact.

Claire Blackwell can’t find that damn white light. Thanks to a mishap at an intersection, she’s dead and stuck somewhere between Heaven and what seems like Hell as she is forced to watch her husband and children unravel without her. While she struggles to find answers for her limbo state, her family begins to see her, offering what she believes, is a gift of second chances.

As she navigates through this new, untouchable world and the challenges it creates, she is forced to face some sad and potentially dangerous truths. Determined, she works to mend her relationship with her family, but her stubborn teenage son refuses to acknowledge her, and when tensions escalate with his long-time bully, her inability to control the physical world around her leaves her fearing for her family’s safety. With her time running out, she must find a way to save them before the progress she has made is lost and she fades from this world forever.

Would you like a review copy??

I am excited to say I have a book coming out and I was wondering if any of you may be open to receiving an early review copy so you could share a review on Amazon or Goodreads. If so, just leave your email in the comments or email me (familyfocusblog@gmail.com) and I will have the publisher get in touch with the copy and instructions.

It shouldn't take long, just a few sentences on the book would be fab!! Thanks so much! (amzn.to/2KSwOKn)
