My emotional explosion yesterday can be attributed to a couple of things. My friend Julia brought to my attention that weaning could have a lot to do with my inability to control my emotions. I went to bed last night feeling like I had a hive on the underneath of my lip…the inside of my lip I suppose, but not completely inside the mouth, just like, well, the underside. Anyway, I woke up at 2am and my top lip was swollen up like Angelina Jolie. This has been happening to me for few weeks now, so I didn’t yelp in horror, instead just shrugged my shoulders and popped a couple more Benedryl. Kinsey girl is 10 months old now (wowzers!), and I have come a long way in the foodie department since I last talked about it here. We went with a hybrid version of Baby Led Weaning, because I am a total nutcase every time Kinsey gags or makes choking noises. The theory makes sense. Teach your kid to chew before teaching them to swallow…I support it, but I also wanted solid foods to be an opportunity…

I did not think through my song choices very well with Kinsey, and as a result, I am stuck singing “Day-O” about 3x per day on average. I introduced a David Crowder Song at bedtime, and that one works only at bedtime. Then, a couple weeks ago, Bryant and I started singing “Down by the Bay” in the car as we were driving across town, and our multi-part “repeat after me” rendition seemed to work quite nicely.
