Hi Shelby, oh, so sorry to hear you had to pump and struggled with low milk supply. Sounds like it was a real mission . Congratulations on working so hard to give your baby 5 months of breast milk. Every drop matters. I admire your dedication under tricky circumstances. I never worked out how to pump... but I was lucky...  I didn't have to.

I had all the right advice before I set out breastfeeding (great antenatal classes with an IBCLC). As a result I knew all the tricks to help me set up my milk supply in the first 6 weeks (ideally natural birth, no meds, no epidural, skin to skin directly birth, demand feeding rather than scheduling feeds etc), and so I had an oversupply of milk at first.  Plus my son loved nursing -

Plus my son loved nursing - still does (he turned 3 on 3 October).  My plan is to keep feeding him until he weans himself, which is starting to happen. It's a gradual process though. Some days he feeds a lot and other days hardly at all.  Sometimes I say no to a feed now, (if it's an awkward social situation) and he's (usually) cool with that. He still goes down on a feed and likes to wake to a feed, but sleeps through the night now.

Sorry... rambling on... you got me on my favourite subject... he he... xx
