Share a little something about yourself with other moms.: Hi! I’m Sheryl Thompson. My blog is “The Wilderness Wife” and the URL is http://wildernesswife.com . I live in a very remote rural area in northern Maine, often referred to as The Maine Northwoods. If you have ever seen the Discovery Channel show “American Loggers”, I live about 20 miles north of where that is filmed. This part of Maine is the land of loggers and large potato farms. The closest city that has a movie theater multiplex is 90 miles south of us. The town that I live in, Sherman, has a population of 885, so it’s very small. It’s a 12 mile trip to a bank and a small grocery store. You get the picture! When we moved here 20 years ago from New Hampshire, my sister-in-law commented that we lived in “Boonieville”. Although this group is a Mom Blogger group, I am a Grammy Blogger, as my 3 sons have all left the nest, and now I enjoy the pleasure of grandchildren. I blog about life in the country, gardening, cooking, and crafting. I have my own garden, and I freeze and can the food from it. We have our own small flock of chickens so I have the pleasure of fresh eggs to cook with. For years I have painted folk art under the pseudonym “Grammy Mouse”. My paintings have been published as greeting cards and prints, and they have been licensed out for the home décor industry. I was a travel teacher at decorative painting conventions representing DecoArt and Delta Ceramcoat, and I wrote a number of articles and projects for magazines like Paintworks, Decorative Artists Workbook, Craftworks, and more. Crafting has always been an important part of my life and I never met a craft I didn’t like LOL. I’ve sewed, crewel embroidered, painted, stenciled, scrapbooked, and made jewelry, dollhouses and miniatures, stained glass, and macramé. I have caned chairs, decoupaged and “Modge podged” furniture ….the list goes on and on. I grew up in a different time frommost of you,The 1950’s and 1960’s, and I blog about that too. It’s sort of a trip down memory lane….those good old days you hear your parents and grandparents talk about.

I enjoy reading Mom Blogs and I am happy to see so many of you are SAHM and are home schooling your children! You are doing the right thing by your kids! It is an admirable choice that you have made. I look forward to connecting with all of you!
