I worked in the optical industry for more than 20 years and I have seen children with minor to severe eye problems.  One of the more common problems was pinkeye. 

We love our children and hate to see them suffer.  We want to kiss their boo-boos away so that they feel better.  Today, I watched a woman kiss her son on the eye while he itched and rubbed.  It appeared to be pinkeye.  I know what you are thinking. Eewwww!  I felt the same way but I understood.
