Cooking isn’t always one of my favorite things to do. I appreciate good food. I love fresh ingredients. New dishes are always fun to consume. What I haven’t always loved is the time it takes to do it well.

Fortunately, my husband never pressed the issue after we got married. He knew when he married me, he was marrying someone a little more focused on other things. But through the years, and watching him bring new spices in the room for me to smell, or getting excited over a new dish…

Oh what I would give to go back in time and rethink how I would spend those early days with my precious newborn! I can’t, but I can pass on great information that I’ve since learned would have put us on a much better beginning.

It’s kind of funny now how incredibly naive I was when it came to the immense responsibility of around the clock care. We genuinely thought we could handle a baby waking every 2.5 hours to eat, 24 hours a day.
