If you read my blog post yesterday about “Does My Baby Need a Specialty Formula?“, you probably noticed that I briefly mentioned that some mom’s felt that their baby seemed to be having issues digesting the cow’s milk formula (regular formula). Allergies are on the rise and more parents are…

This Banana Bread Loaf is delicious and moist with lots of flavour. Perfect sliced with tea or coffee. Banana bread is wonderful toasted too. Best with overripe bananas.

Do you ever just have one of those days where you feel like your entire first year of your child's life has been nothing but getting her arm to move?! I'm definitely having one of those days today. I don't even think I've ever purchased a toy for Camryn without it being for some type of therapy. Even while we are feeding her I put it in front of her left hand so that she is enticed to use it. I hope during this second year I get a chance to enjoy Camryn a little more and not be totally…

Yesterday day I wrote a post called “Choosing the Right Type of Formula for Your Baby?” If you read this post, you will find out how overwhelming it can be to pick a formula for your child. Most parents start out with a cow’s milk based formula which is tolerated by most babies. Some…

Well this holiday weekend at Corntassle Cottage was filled with various adventures. Most of the weekend was wrought with storms, and some of them included heavy rain and wind. We even had a few branches blown down onto the neighbor's house. Luckily they were not large enough to cause any real damage, just a scrap on the siding and a dent in the A/C casing, for which I am thoroughly grateful. We even managed to be able to grill out steak's for dinner on Monday evening; there is nothing better…

You would think that by now I would be used to the usual chaos at Corntassle Cottage; unfortunately, I am not much of one for chaos...then again I think I could get extremely bored without it! Though I suppose with a hubby and three, well actually four children I can't forget my son from another mother, chaos is a package deal. LOL! Each of them brings their own special brand of chaos into the family. Three of the four males are of course teens, 13, 19, 20, and there are days that they seem…

Well, yesterday I received a letter from Lil Miss, during her Language lesson, as a small bit of bonus work. Now, I did not even know that she was doing so, but we have been trying to work on her handwriting. Also, she has been working on comma's and punctuation in her Language "class". This is the rottenest lil monster and the sweetest lil angel, all wrapped into one, and I love her with all of my heart. The following letter was written and copied almost word for word...the only thing that…

When you become a parent, there is no manual. There is no one to tell you what’s right and what’s wrong. Not much is black and white; there are many questions that result in different answers for different families. But in my time as a mama, I’ve learned two things about child raising that are universal truths.
The first: you have to make decisions that do right by your family – not your sister’s family or your cousin’s family or your best friend from high school’s family. And…

When I was pregnant with my each one of my children, I knew from the beginning that I was planning on breastfeeding my babies. Breastfeeding was a personal preference and I realize that not everyone wants to or can breastfeed their baby. I am the type of person who urges new…

It is fantastic to balance obligations at home and work by avoiding concentrating on either area to excess. Excess is commonly defined as an amount that is more than necessary, permitted, or desirable. It is not ideal to live in excess. Balancing our obligations to home and to work is a balancing act. When I think of it I always think of a seesaw with the things I need to do for home on one side and the things I need to do for work on the other side. A reality is that many women work at home…
