Both my girls have their fair share of anxiety - I can be credited for passing that down to them, I guess. Neither one is worse than the other, and while their anxieties are similar, they're also pretty different and have to be handled differently.
Brooke is indecisive and has separational anxiety - she wants to spend the night with a friend, but then calls me at 10:30 not able to sleep, she invites friends over but decides later that she wishes they would leave. She wants to go to…

Having had a strange obsession with finding the best possible diaper bag and having purchased way too many, I finally have figured the "essential features" needed to make the perfect diaper bag.
P.S. Now I am headed to e-bay to sell the 100 bags that I have bought in the past to recoup some of my hard earned money! LOL!
1. Size: You will need to carry diapers, wipes, snacks, ointment, burp clothes, and other…

For a first time mom, you as an individual tend to worry about every aspect of becoming a mother. I know I did. Any first-time parent would be worry about any and every thing as a first time parent. I became pregnant while in college. Lucky for me, I was about to complete my degree so it wasn't so bad. In the beginning, I was nervous since because I wasn't sure of what I was doing. College senior and pregnant, not to mention other added stress, no bueno! But, I was determined to make it.…

Summer is upon us, and the kids want to go everywhere, beaches, theme parks, baseball stadiums, museums, hikes, waterparks, the list goes on. Sometimes airports or subways are involved.
All of these destinations make it quite tricky to keep close track of children particularly if they are young and you have more than one.
This is a…

GAAAAH! My back hurts! I’ve been complaining about my shoulder/back pain for the past two weeks now to my co-workers. My body’s just giving out on me. I’m only 29, people!
I was trying to figure out what could have caused it. Is it the way I sit at my desk? That could be the reason…partly. I have a back support attached to my chair and I try to sit up and not slouch over. Or I think it could be the fact that my bag is ALWAYS, like, 30 pounds heavier than me. I feel the need to…

** Girls and drama go together like humidity and swass.
** Try as I may, I just don't have the moves like Jagger.
** It's best to look at the toilet seat before sitting down, at least in my house anyway.
** Clearly, my kids wait till I've just changed their sheets to pee the bed.
** Drinking cheap wine after having…

As my niece gets older, she’s becoming increasingly harder to lie to. But my step son believes every word i say. I’ve never told him elaborate lies — like I fought in the war or helped build rome — but I’m guilty of a little fib now and then, mostly in the name of keeping the peace. If it avoids a tantrum, I’m totally OK with saying things like “Oh, sorry, we can’t play with teddy now because he is sleeping and if we wake him he'll bite, or “We’ll look for your squeaky shoes later” or “the…

Not all children respond to the same methods of teaching, especially those with special needs. Sign language has benefits for both those with and without hearing as it is a multi-sensory language!…

A simple foray into my overstuffed closet to put away laundry triggered some self-realization and has inspired me to make some changes in my life.
As I struggled to make room for the same sweats and shorts I wore last week and will probably throw on again this week, I stopped to admire of many dresses with a tag still attached. It wasn't a recent purchase, I've probably had it about a year. As is my habit, I styled it in my head, recalling some cute wedges I…

This year I turned 30. Yes the big 3-0. This was hard for me to handle. I didn't want to be out of my 20s, 30 was OLD. Suddenly it seemed that everyone around me could hear my biological clock ticking away. Did it go on speaker when I turned 30? Did it speed up without me paying attention? How come I couldn't hear it? People have been asking me over the last several months on a regular basis when I am going to have kids. Don't I want a child of my own? By people I mean EVERYONE. Family,…

I like to say "round" instead of stage or trial, since we're in this for the long baby led weaning fight. We'll be patient and we'll be diligent in our efforts. I say "we" but it is really like a boxing match- it all depends on the other person (in this case: Bambina). Even though I'm being a rebel by skipping all the purees and cereals, I am taking the usual 3-4 days in between introducing new foods in case there are any funky allergic-like reactions.
Sillyboy, as an infant,…

I'm a people watcher. I always have been, and I absolutely love it. You can learn so much about people by just sitting back and watching them, how they interact, their mannerisms, etc.
In a non-stalker way, thank you. I have no restraining orders... yet.
I took the kids to the pool last night, and while they enjoyed the pool fun, I sat on the sidelines with a book and relaxed. I quickly found that the book was a decoy for the people watching that was about to go down. There…

Living in a world where there are so many different kinds of people, especially women, can be very inspiring. Commercials, blogs, the internet and other forms of communication constantly bombarding the consumer with tips on how you should look, what you should wear, what is acceptable and what is not can sometimes make you feel out of place.
One of the most important lessons in life that anyone can learn is to be you. There is only one you. No one in the world can be you. That is…

I peeked in on my son sleeping this morning, and was aghast at how tall he actually looked lying in bed. He is twelve years old, on the brink of his journey through Junior High, and I can hardly believe how much he's grown. I looked at his feet (now bigger than mine), and his hands (almost bigger than mine), and I thought, "These were punching my ribs and kicking my…

How am I coping?
This is the question I am often asked these days.... my answer is "So far, I am still fine..."
Life is slightly different... a month ago, my routine has changed, especially towards the evening. Nowadays I spend more time facing two "Square Boxes"... one Big and one smaller in size... my two eyes will be facing my faithful laptop and my two ears will be listening to the Chinese drama showing on Astro....
On some evenings, I will take…
