When they were young

I really miss my kids being young. The stuff we used to do was great. Stuff, as teens, we just don’t do anymore.

There is a children’s park in the town we live in that is so cool for little kids. There are huge metal things to climb on, slide on, swing on and hang on. There are big dirt diggers - what do kids like to do more than dig in the dirt - and an automated bubble maker.

Best of all is a “dancing” water fountain. My kids used to love going to the park in their bathing…

Mom guilt never ends

When I signed on for this mom gig I was unprepared for the amount of guilt that it involved.

From day one, I felt overpowering guilt. Guilt about whether I would be able to properly and adequately take care of my babies. Would I ever be able to take a shower again without feeling guilty I wasn’t with my babies all the time.

Should I just let my babies cry or pick them up everytime. Rock them to sleep or let them squall for an hour or two.…

Rantings of a rabid soccer mom

I live in the south, land of the greatest NCAA football conference – the SEC. In my house, come Saturday, if our team is on television, there is no other show. We don Orange and White, and somehow believe the team and spectators in TV land can hear us (me) yell and call plays.

That’s Saturday – the rest of the week it’s not football, it’s futbol.

Prank or politics?

Monday a University of Florida student, attending a speech by U.S. Sen. John Kerry, became disruptive and was Tasered by campus security while attempting to remove the man from the building.

The whole incident and subsequent media coverage more than concerns me a little since my daughter is a freshman at the above mentioned school. I called her Tuesday to get her reaction.…

ode to crotchfruit

What a great way to start off a rather timid morning! I just finished reading the link I found on Hathor the Cow Goddess about the child free movement and lingo! What a hoot! Makes me want to run out and hug my little sperm and egg omelet!

Its just human nature. We must compete. There will always be… Continue

I don't wanna stop

Sometimes I don’t know what comes over me, but I just have to try to embarrass my kid. Not a “spit clean food off his face in the mall food court” kind of embarrassment. But, “singing in the car” or “dancing in the living room” kind of embarrassment.

House Divided

This weekend was the first serious test of our family’s loyalty to our respective alma maters. Saturday afternoon, the University of Tennessee Volunteers (Mom and Dad - Go Vols!) met the Florida Gators in the Swamp (first born).

I gotta secret to tell from my electrical well

i have a giant secret that i would love to share...but i cannot. holding on to it and not telling ...even when im dying to... has made me realize that by telling someone a secret..that you intend to keep a are actually doing an injustice to that person. now they have the baggage and must carry it along without telling anyone (as you just indulged in!) its not fair really. true secrets are not told. and its good that way. although i just indulged by telling you i had a secret which… Continue

hand is healing at amazing speed...not in any pain...keeping it wrapped is annoying..but cleanliness keeps a good hand from going bad so we continue the ritual of wash, goo, wrap twice a day till the blisters burst, drain and heal.

its been quite a hectic and exhausting week ...starting off with a 3AM ER visit followed by a half day in KC at the specialist then on hump day i worked till 8:30 (with a break for toddler yoga! how fun indeed). today i am…

All About Milk Banking

Hello Fellow Mommy Bloggers!

I have recently blogged about a topic near and dear to my heart: breastmilk donation. I have been researching breast milk donation for several months now, and have discovered a lot of very interesting things about milk banks and milk banking that probably not many people are aware of. I compiled a lot of my research in my latest post, which I hope… Continue
