I really miss my kids being young. The stuff we used to do was great. Stuff, as teens, we just don’t do anymore.
There is a children’s park in the town we live in that is so cool for little kids. There are huge metal things to climb on, slide on, swing on and hang on. There are big dirt diggers - what do kids like to do more than dig in the dirt - and an automated bubble maker.
Best of all is a “dancing” water fountain. My kids used to love going to the park in their bathing…

When I signed on for this mom gig I was unprepared for the amount of guilt that it involved.
From day one, I felt overpowering guilt. Guilt about whether I would be able to properly and adequately take care of my babies. Would I ever be able to take a shower again without feeling guilty I wasn’t with my babies all the time.
Should I just let my babies cry or pick them up everytime. Rock them to sleep or let them squall for an hour or two.…

I live in the south, land of the greatest NCAA football conference – the SEC. In my house, come Saturday, if our team is on television, there is no other show. We don Orange and White, and somehow believe the team and spectators in TV land can hear us (me) yell and call plays.
That’s Saturday – the rest of the week it’s not football, it’s futbol.

Monday a University of Florida student, attending a speech by U.S. Sen. John Kerry, became disruptive and was Tasered by campus security while attempting to remove the man from the building.
The whole incident and subsequent media coverage more than concerns me a little since my daughter is a freshman at the above mentioned school. I called her Tuesday to get her reaction.…

Sometimes I don’t know what comes over me, but I just have to try to embarrass my kid. Not a “spit clean food off his face in the mall food court” kind of embarrassment. But, “singing in the car” or “dancing in the living room” kind of embarrassment.

This weekend was the first serious test of our family’s loyalty to our respective alma maters. Saturday afternoon, the University of Tennessee Volunteers (Mom and Dad - Go Vols!) met the Florida Gators in the Swamp (first born).
