It's My Birthday, I Can Cry If I Want To

It's my birthday today. August 18th. I'm only 24, so aging isn't really a factor for me. I had my kids at age 12, so being youthful comes naturally to me. I am so lithe, too. I just sprang out of bed today like I was 7 and proceeded to prance through the day with a sunshiny smile on my face. This getting old stuff is awesome.

All I really want for my birthday is an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and a $10 gift card to Limited Too.

Too bad in my "dream world" the facade… Continue

Fall Collections

Fall is here so are my wreaths. Yeah I know what you're thinking...Much as I hate to ride with the trend of almost everyone getting all their Fall products out,I thought it would be the best time to roll out my own Fall collections too. I already have them so might as well start flaunting them in the market. So without further delay, please give a warm welcome to my first love! My beautiful wreaths!

Creating wreaths was my first love before I got involved into the jewelry making… Continue

In a study of 600 American college students and their risk for depression and suicide, approximately 16 percent reported feeling like life wasn’t worth living, yet none of these students reported being currently engaged in mental health treatment. According to Mental Health America, depression is one of the most common mental illnesses, affecting more than 19 million Americans each year.

I suffered from constant, pervasive depression from my earliest childhood. In college I felt like… Continue

Sweet Coconut Sticky Rice with Mango

I first had this Asian dessert at a 4th of July picnic. I thought I ate several portions covertly without anyone noticing my silent love affair at the end of the patio table...but apparently the hostess noticed because she sent me home with all the remaining portions! I blushed a little at being found out, but felt lucky that the largely white crowd couldn't imagine how indulgently delicious this rice dessert tasted. More for me....

Following is the recipe I came up with, but first a… Continue

Kirkland Wednesday Market

It's a warm sunny Wednesday in my town of Kirkland, WA. And while having the sun out is enough of a reason to celebrate in this Seattle suburb, today is also Wednesday Market. It is the day when they close down a street in downtown and roll out the kiosks filled with juicy peaches, blueberries, sweet Walla Walla onions, and a myriad of other locally grown produce.

But, that's not all. I've been meaning to take my knives down there to the stall to get… Continue

Sleeping issues with a 10 year old

I'm brand new to the site so here is my first post. My son is 10 years old and ever since her was a baby he's had night terrors, now "bad dreams" and wakes us up to come to bed with him every night. At this point it's a habit. Has anyone got any nighttime experience?

Friendliness in an Unfriendly World

August 14th, 2008

On a typical afternoon I often find myself pushing my son in his stroller as we buy our groceries, go to the bank, pick up our dry-cleaning and shop at the local stores on our busy street. Sitting in his front row seat, meandering through the crowd, my three year old happily says “hello”, “hi” and occasionally “nice dog” to the many people passing by. Sadly, I have to report that few will reply, or say hello back or acknowledge his attempt at being… Continue
