I have a fabulous writer's group. I wouldn't be able to write without them
The comments they had about my first draft of my first chapter were basically, it stunk.
They didn't say it in those particular words. They're extremely knowledgeable about writing and they're really nice people. Instead, they used phrases like, don't tell, show. Or, think about the story arc. Honest hints that I need to start my chapter over. And they are right.
I keep in mind what writer Meg Wolister…

The other day, when I asked my six-year-old to go brush her teeth, she told me to, talk to her fist!
Every day is a new opportunity for her to wield her impetuous powers... And wield she does. From the time she calls room service to…

I cannot be the only one...who thinks the corporations that thought it was a good idea to make the day after Thanksgiving, the one day of the year that is synonymous with eating and drinking too much, the same day as the biggest shopping day of the year, are a group of evil masterminds. While thinking about these wicked geniuses I envisioned the consumer prepping for their Black Friday, I imagined it went something like this:…

** It's not a road trip in our family unless it ends with a souvenir bag of puke.
** Thanksgiving without a nap is like Christmas without a Santa.
** You never…

The holidays are coming up and nothing could be better than expanding your family just before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a time when families come together and celebrate everything they are thankful for in their lives. A new baby could be one of the many things to be thankful for this holiday season.
Remember to be prepared for your new baby this Thanksgiving. Dress him or her in layers so that he or she will be able to easily change body temperatures when you move your new baby…

Whose idea was it to create a multi functional, portable device that could easily slide into the back pocket of your most ill fitting jeans? Probably the same asshole that gave one to your mother! It took my mom a few years to grasp the concept of technology; but then one day she took a big ole bite out of Apple–and things have never been the same.
Brring! Brring! Pick up the phone... It's your…

I cannot be the only one...who feels obligated to have a list that shows all my gratitude ready at a moments notice to share with those around me on Thanksgiving. Please don't misinterpret my sense of obligation with being ungrateful, I am very, very thankful for the many people and the things in my life, I am just not fond of an on the spot listing of those things (sometimes in front of a decent sized audience). To prepare myself for this spotlight on Thanksgiving I decided to put together…

Ok, yeah, I'll admit that my husband and I may have rock, paper, scissored our way through some of more undesirable aspects of parenting our twins. (I'm pretty sure we're not the only ones who do this either.) Because, sometimes, it just doesn't really make sense for BOTH of us to jump into a crappy situation. For…

We've all seen those old television sitcoms (or at the very least, Fred and Wilma Flintstone) where the husband and wife are sleeping in separate beds. This mostly had to do with The Production Code of 1930 (also known also as the Hays Code), which, among other things, forbid showing a married couple with a double bed. Here's…

This craft was not intended to be a Thanksgiving key chain. Matter-a-fact, it started off as a turkey headband. You know, those really cute turkey feathered headbands?

This is a super Christmas gift for children to make for their friends - it’s inexpensive, looks good and they have a nice time making it. It’s also nice to have a few of these made up as emergency gifts just in case unexpected guests drop by.

I cannot be the only one...who is inspired by the colors associated with the holidays; rich oranges, sparkling reds, and many a hue of green. In an attempt to show a little of that cheer, I decided to use my finger nails to express my love of the holiday color palette. I am not talking about creating small versions of the infamous Christmas sweater on my nails, no small…

Chicken tacos are a family meal favourite at our house, the children just love choosing all their own fillings and creating their own taco just the way they like it. I use chicken thighs to make this meal - covering them with a spice mix and roasting them in the oven before shredding the meat, I prefer the thigh meat it’s just so much…
