Spinach Casserole AKA Detox Lasagna

This is what Rudy and I are having for dinner tonight. It's one of my favorite detox recipes, but every time we go through the detox program I can never seem to find it without searching everywhere.

I'm hoping by posting it here I'll never lose it again. Added bonus - those of you also doing detox (Fat Smash Diet Phase 1) have a new recipe to try!

Depression Isn't A Problem If You're Dead

So I'm watching TV the other day and drug commercial comes on. No not the type that compares your brain on drugs to a fried egg, I'm talking about those OTHER drug commercials. You know the kind from the drug makers that are promoting a latest wonder drug?

Well the commercial I saw was for Abilify, a drug that is being used to treat bi-polar disorder. When one of these wonder drug commercials come on I always stop to listen because at the end of the commercial they list the side… Continue

Welcome Me!

I'm the new kid on the block here. I am fairly new to blogging but it gives me the chance to talk about my favorite topic- my kids! I'm one of those silly moms who lives and breathes her babies.

I have a little girl.....well diva. She is turning 2 this month and boy can she bring the drama! She's a good girl but certainly knows what she wants.

I also have a little man who is almost 6 months old. How the time has flown. He gives his smiles and giggles pretty easily. He LOVES to eat and… Continue

At 34, I am almost potty-trained

About 300 or so days ago, a friend passed along an eBook to me with one mom’s guide to three-day potty training. If memory serves, it entailed three days in the house with a half-naked Miss D. and an itty-bitty potty stuck in the middle of the living room.

I thought about this book last night as I was sprinkling corn starch over a pee puddle on my bedroom carpet. I got the corn starch trick from that book, but I didn’t get much else. Nearly a year after we began what has felt like a… Continue

New Year, New Me

Every year begins with the same good intentions, doesn't it? We all have these lofty goals in mind--we're going to lose xxx pounds, give xxx to charity, clean the house, stick to the diet, exercise, take up a new hobby...and the list goes on. Those are just a few of my resolutions from years' past--I'm sure you could add to the list. This year, I wanted to just throw it all in the trash--forget the resolutions, just live and hope for the best. But I realize that I am a very goal-oriented… Continue

Not a Creature was Stirring, Except For...

...A GIANT RAT!!!!

First of all, we had an amazing Christmas. The days surrounding December 25th were filled with time spent with both of our families, and lots of presents for Zeke! He came through all of the festivities unscathed, except for a few missed naps. But that's what the holidays are for, right?!

On Christmas night, we came home from my Aunt's house, put our tired little guy to bed, and were getting ready to settle down on the couch when I saw it--I thought it… Continue

It's DETOX Time!!

I made it through the first day of detox, only 8 more days to go. It went pretty good. This is the 3rd time I've done the Fat Smash detox program and I've always had a ton of success. The rules are easy to follow and if you stick to it you learn to appreciate food again.

During the past few months I lost all of my appreciation for food. I could no longer tell the difference, in taste, between a green pepper and a yellow pepper. Heck, I wasn't even eating peppers unless they were… Continue

Need ideas on how to get the word out there.

Recent visitors suggested I try to market our guest house to parents of Autistic children. Their child loved the animals and whole atmosphere of the farm. The parents were able to relax completely in the guest house and cook and do things whenever they wanted. They had been searching for 'hands on' activities for their child. He was able to feed the cows, visit the llama and bond with the goats. If anyone has any ideas how to target such an audience, I would greatly appreciate it. Or if… Continue

back to school

Today is the first day back to school for my kids after a two week Christmas Vacation. The break has been so nice. There was no rushing around in the morning getting my daughter off to school and waking up the other two and dragging them out in the cold weather! There was no lunches that had to be made and no laundry that had to be cleaned. It was a great time to spend with the kids, relax and to get ready for the new year! As my oldest daughter was leaving for school my youngest who will turn… Continue

The Truth About OCD...Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

It can be quite challenging when your child does things that seem a little different or odd. Very often it is hard for a parent to diagnose a child's behavior. Often a parent will notice behaviors in a child that are different or challenging for your child yet your child's pediatrician isn't with your child for a long enough time to diagnose a situation. It is also common for a parent to hide information from a pediatrician in hopes that the situation is temporary or will go… Continue

If I Were A Boy!

This is a Beyonce inspired post. Haha. I was listening to her song on the way home from work and one of the verses is

"If I were a boy

Even just for a day

I’d roll out of bed in the morning

And throw on what I wanted"

Then something about hanging out, drinking beer and chasing girls. Well, I'm not sure about all of it, but it got me to thinking about all the things I would/wouldn't do around my house if I were a boy. As follows is the SHORT list.

*I would… Continue

Who is up for the challenge...Project 365

I invite you all to join in on capturing this next years memories...

I have quickly come to realize as I looked back at the last year, that time is flying before my eyes. It is so hard for me to comprehend that my son is now a year old and I am quickly turning twenty-seven next month (eeek). So, because I am the type of person who loves to… Continue

Are you an 'X'er?

No, I haven’t lost my mind.

And, no, I haven’t forgotten how to spell. Let me explain.

On Friday night, my husband and I had a date night. I honestly can’t remember the last time we had the chance to just sit and talk….and LISTEN to each other. It was perfect timing. Just after New Year’s. We talked about 2008 and how so many of the things that happened, both to us and to our world have shifted our perspective.

We also talked about our hopes and plans for 2009.… Continue
