You know you are The Queen of Suburbia When Your Life Changes Over New Couches

Last Saturday my life changed.

No I did not get a promotion, we didn't move and Lord knows there is no pregnancy announcement coming.

Friends- we are getting new couches.

Those who know me already know that this is actually big news in our home.  Those microfiber monsters have been a real point of contention in my marriage for years.  You see when i was preggers with the twins I was a bit hormonally whacked and all over the place emotionally.…

Dear Everyone...please stop telling me to cherish these moments

There is nothing on earth I love more than my children.  These four little girls are the driving force behind every breath I take. They are also the reason I am on a heavy dose of Zoloft and have to dye my hair every six weeks.  Considering I have four young girls, including identical toddler twins, I tend to draw a crowd and a flury of comments and advice from every stranger we pass.

In the Choice Between the Mom-Hangover and Death...I choose death friends

T

I will never forget my first mom hangover.  Our first born was three months old and the Hubs and I were just itching to put real clothes on and get away for the night.  We attended a family wedding and spent the night in a hotel...I think...whether we ever made it back to the room or not is questionable.  Needless to say we drank a lot.  We threw those suckers back as fast as we could order them.  Us new parents had something to prove that night, we were still…

Dear husband…I love you, but I would love you more if you would just not touch me

I love my dear husband.  I am one of those rare creatures that loved him from the minute I saw him across the room at a frat party at the ripe old age of nineteen.  Even though I was hot and heavy with someone else, we locked eyes, danced on couches to J-Lo and Ja-Rule’s, “I’m Real,” and by the end of that jam I was his for eva’!

Truly I hit the jackpot with Sam. Sure, we hit our rough patches in those early years… I mean we were teenagers for crying out loud…but he has developed into…

You Won't Eat Dinner...but you'll eat poop!

Kids eat some gross things friends.

I honestly can not believe some of the shit that my girls put in their mouths.  My kids grossness seems to fall into three categories:  The kids eat:

  1.  Things all kids give a whirl at...a rite of passage if you will
  2. Edibles that are actually food items- but you're not supposed to guzzle down
  3. Items that are so strange they will forever haunt my memories

Without further delay here is my list of gross…

Mommy Needs A Timeout...and a drink

for your bachelor party

I adore my four girls, truly.  They bring so much joy, love and laughter into this home each and every single day.  Never do I regret the decision I made to leave the workforce and stay home with them. As a former special education teacher who had earned a Masters Degree and truly loved her job, "retiring" was a monumental decision.  In the beginning of "retirement" there was surely some anxiety in this change of pace in lifestyle.

What if I don't like…

Dinnertime at Bev's Diner -Dinner with kids is the WORST

Dinnertime with kids...our daily dose of torture friends!

Dinnertime at Bev's Diner

Dinnertime at the McCarthy house is the WORST.  My hubs works some long hours and is MAYBE home one day a week for the dinnertime shift.  I swear within minutes of opening my eyes in the morning I am already thinking about dinner...what to make, what do we have, dear lord don't make me have to drag these kids out to a store for any ingredients.

We refer to our kitchen as Bev's Diner because…

Master of Medicrity- tips and trick on how to bring it and wing it in the parent "hood"

5 (1)

When I first embarked on this parenting journey nearly a decade ago I was bent on being a textbook mommy.  I had read the books and watched enough of TLC's A Baby Story to consider myself a total expert.  I was 24 year old.  It has taken me the better part of a decade to arrive at where I am today...a master of mediocrity.

My first born daughter schooled me REAL fast at how ignorant and naive I was to this whole parenting game.  She was six pounds of…

Tales from the Target- Part 1

Shopping with kids is zero percent fun guys...

We spend a lot of time and money at Target.  We live about one minute from our local Target, it's a SUPER Target and it opens before 9 am.  It is where us early bird suburban moms hang.  The morning employees at our local Target basically know us by name.  If we don't visit three times a week they get kind of nervous and wonder what is up.  I don't like to worry them.

So today we had already been to McDonalds, the park and…
