Good Parents ask the Right questions

If it's on thing I've learned for sure in my twenty-two years of parenting is the value of asking the right questions. I'm a firm believer that in order to fully understand the cause of something we must ask as many questions as possible. Being afraid of the answer is not going to get rid of the problem much less solve it.

I love my…

Unlocking the Power of Hope

I recently signed up for another Meditation challenge. This one focuses on Hope and all that it entails. I like to believe I know a lot about Hope but what I have come to realize in just a few days is that in this small four letter word there is tremendous Power.

Things always come into my life just as I need…

The Benefits of practicing Spring Cleaning on Ourselves

Have you started to or have you already finished putting away those heavy Winter sweaters? Did you arrange a date with your Landscaper? Have you switched out your heavy drapes for the lighter Spring and Summer material?

Seems like the moment Spring arrives we quickly switch our brains to think of all things light, bright and pretty.…

Top Five things that will Help keep you connected to your Children

You often hear parents say that their kids don't want them around. That they rush out of the car when dropped off at school or quickly go to their rooms and shut the door when they have friends over. Well, today I want to share with you Five things I've been doing for twenty-one years that keep my daughter close to me.

I can't stress enough the…

You can't Give that which you don't Have

Can you give me peace of mind if you are running around in Chaos? Can you shower me with love when you sit in Hate? Can you listen to reason when you already tuned out?

You can't give that which you don't have this is my most recent lesson. In my grandmother's transition, many old wounds have been reopened. Many thoughts and emotions have resurfaced. When the…

How to deal with being Disappointed by the actions of a loved one

How do I say this without sounding like I'm insensitive? How do you express to someone that you see so much potential in them and can't understand why they don't see it in themselves?

The bottom line is...you can't.

One of my Besties favorite thing to say is "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink." It…

Unintentional Meanness amongst Women

There is something to be said for choosing unity over division. Being part of a community that provides strength as opposed to walking your path alone. I feel that everyone has a community they should be able to lean on but sometimes your own community tears you down.

I belong to a community called WOMEN. As beautiful and as strong as that community is and or…

Encouraging our children to be Critical Thinkers

Do you possess the skills to be a good Critical Thinker? Has it been something that came easy to you or have you had to practice? Better yet are you like me and have had to really put forth the effort to dissect what critical thinking even means?

Some recent reading bought this evaluation to light. I've never really analyzed this for myself but as I continued reading…

Cluttered Minds don't Allow growth

Good Morning! It's a bit wet out here in NYC this weather has truly been up and down. Spring I can't wait to see you. I attended another of my Sister Circles last night and the theme was love. How we give it and how we receive it and what we all realized was that we are much better at giving than receiving. As if someone loving us…

Ten things kids should know by the age of Ten

I was having a conversation with my neighborhood Bank Teller. We so happened to be getting lunch at the same Deli. I asked him how things were going with his son's Senior year and College prep. He said going as best as could be expected. I remembered earlier conversations we had had in regards to his…

Why do Kids Lie?

We all lie period. For different reasons at different levels at different times and to different people. I've talked about this before. Our current President is a huge example of lies. So why should we expect that our kids would not engage in this deception as well?

Now that my daughter is older she has moments where she will say to me "oh I can…

Meditation is easy...Not

Oh I can't do that, I can't meditate. I feel so silly just sitting there with my eyes closed. Who has time to sit still? Oh that sounds so goofy, I don't want to feel like I am floating.

I have heard so many comments some with merit and some totally bizarre when I have shared my meditation practice journey. I remember when I first began to practice I couldn't wait to spread the word on how life saving it had been for me and all the benefits I was gaining with my practice. Can I just… Continue

Yes! it's finally Bedtime

Hey dolls, Happy Sunday. Wrapping up August with a revisit to an old post I thought was relevant since school has arrived once again. Summer can be disruptive to a bedtime flow because of the later Sunset and all the fun activities. Getting back into the swing of things can cause stress and anxiety.

Bedtime for kids can either be fun or full of drama.

You had a long day at work or you have spent your day home with the kid’s one task after another and when 7:30 rolls around all…

Parents don't have all the Answers

A lovely evening of Pretty Little Liars watching with my Lil mama bought upon some great conversation and as I fell asleep last night this is what I thought of again. So I wanted to talk about it with you.

Here's is a BIG question...

Should I admit I don’ have all the answers? I don’t really know everything after all?

Would it be so terrible of me to actually “be human”?…

Co-Sleeping, Yes or No?

Hey everyone, I am revisiting this post I did some time ago because I heard a disturbing story on the radio last week that touched on kids sleeping with their parent(s), specifically what age is too old for them to climb into bed with you.

I originally posted this back in 2013!

I ran into this article today and it peaked my interest with a topic I've thought about for a while. This article in the Stir about …

Establishing Rules for our Children

Hey everyone! Can you believe we are midway through July? Summer gives way to parents loosening up on some of there daily routines I thought I'd revisit one of my favorite topics, House Rules.

Rules should...

  • be tested, broken and amended accordingly.
  • nothing should be followed blindly or set in stone.

This is part of our kids journeys as they grow up but parents, let’s make things easier on ourselves. We need to learn to establish and…

License to Kill, Literally

Peace and Love on this Sunday morning.

It has been an extremely sad week for Humanity but is it really anything new? And the fact that I can so easily think that isn't that even sadder?
