Creative Ways to Spend Time with Your Children

In this day and age, where children and their parents tend to be quite disconnected from each other, either because the parents work long hours or the children spend more and more time online and using social media, making time to spend with your children is becoming very important. Planning quality time and activities…

Paying off Debt

I know when you are in debt, it can be difficult to face the numbers.  I know people who will not open their mail, who just throw their bills in a drawer where they cannot be seen.

I have felt the pressure of debt, avoiding the numbers will not make it go away, or make you feel the burden any less.  I know what it is like to lay in bed thinking about your debt, wondering if you made a payment, thinking about extra fees.  You will find if you write it out and are at…

Seminars and Classes

This post is to encourage you to avail yourself to seminars, conferences and classes.  I know it costs money to attend and it takes planning for your family and sometimes rearranging schedules.  We need to recognize the need for concentrated growth in our lives.  Just like vacation time is important to relax and refocus our lives at times.  Times of investing in the Word of God, and classes/seminars that better our lives are necessary.  It is nice to go to a one day class, but there is a…

My Favorite Pre-marital Assignment

I mentioned before in an earlier post how I would blog about my favorite pre-marital counseling assignment.  My husband and I have been married for over eleven years and this one assignment has stuck with us all this time.  We frequently refer to this assignment.

Our pastor in pre-marital counseling assigned us to meet with over ten married…

My Birth Story-Baby #1

From the moment I was pregnant I had been reading a book called "Supernatural Childbirth", which discusses how to believe God for the supernatural throughout your pregnancy and delivery.  I learned that God wants the best for us and that children are a gift from God and pregnancy and delivery were never meant to be painful or horrible.  He created our bodies to stretch and push that baby out.  I immediately believed this and started confessing the Word of God!  There are prayers and…

Pre-Marital Counseling

This post is to encourage you to avail yourself to pre-marital counseling if you are planning on getting married.  If you are already married, it’s never too late to discuss topics that you haven’t discussed and to have someone help you in discussing those topics or maybe topics you have discussed but just don’t see eye to eye on, that IS when you want a third party involved to assist.  If you are already married share this with someone you know who is going to get married or has a desire…

Operation Christmas Child Interview

I participated in Operation Christmas Child for the first time last year through my local church.  My family thoroughly enjoyed giving back through this organization.  All three of my boys loved picking out items for their shoe box; they each colored a picture and my oldest included information about himself in his box.  It was a great way for them to actively participate in giving back.…

Envelope System

If you need help sticking to your budget the Envelope System works wonders. I first heard of the envelope sytem at my local church, then also after attending Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University.  It is a proven statistic that people spend more money when paying with credit cards and debit cards verses paying with cash. When you are paying with cash you are more likely to think about what you are purchasing.

How does it work?
You create…

Save Money: All you have to do is ask!

When trying to save money or make your money go farther a great place to start is calling your current providers of cable, auto insurance, cell phone carriers, internet provider, etc.

Especially if your contract is up for renewal or close to renewal it’s the perfect time to call around for other quotes.  If you are pleased with your current provider and do not want to change do not be afraid to mention other competitors prices or promotions, most companies will…

How Do You Speak About Your Spouse

This post is to encourage you married couples to only speak well of your spouse.  Most people would think that is common knowledge but I am amazed at how many times I am with strangers and people I know and they speak badly of their spouse.  I know there are the extreme people who are unhappily married and speak horribly of their spouse all the time; I’m not talking about them.  I am talking about people who I know to have a good relationship with their spouse and yet they well say…

How I Cut My Grocery Budget in Half

I used to spend around $400 a month on groceries and another $200 a month on household products (toiletries, diapers, laundry detergent, etc.)  Since I began couponing I spend $300 a month on both groceries and household items together and some months I only spend $200 for our family of 5.

Four years ago a group of my friends at church started couponing and telling me how much money they were saving on groceries.  I was excited to get involved and give it a go.  I…

Budgeting brings you freedom to live intentionally, and accomplish things you desire to achieve.  Be that a family vacation you’ve been dreaming about, purchasing that piece of furniture you have been eyeing, living debt free and so much more.

This post is to encourage you that you can budget and stick…

Trunk or Treat

Have you heard of Trunk or Treat?  This is often an event sponsored by a church or community group as an alternative to Trick or Treating.  A group of people gather typically in a parking lot, they decorate the trunks of their vehicles and instead of going door to door for candy and treats the kids go trunk to trunk.  As a host of a trunk you can pass out candy, prizes, have games like bobbing for apples, fishing for small toys, bean bag toss, ring toss, etc.…

Supernatural Childbirth

I am so grateful someone recommended to me to read “Supernatural Childbirth” by Jackie Mize.  This book can revolutionize your thought process on childbirth..  The planner that I am, I was able to read this book before I was pregnant with my first child.  I also purchased the audio version and would listen to the book on CD every day during my pregnancies.  After the success I had with my first childbirth which I attribute to the things I learned in this book, I read the book and…

When Your Child Hits or is Hit by Another Child

With three boys I am daily reminding them to keep their hands and feet to themselves.  They like to wrestle, jump on each other and someone daily seems to be making unwanted contact with the other.

This past week my youngest son who is three hit another child in his class.  Now if it was one of the children in the class that is always hitting the other children I probably wouldn’t have given it much thought, not that it is okay to hit for any reason.  But he hit a child who I know…

Should the Wife or Husband Plan Date Night?

I have heard wives say he doesn’t put any effort in why should I.  I have heard husbands say if she wants to go on a date she should plan one and tell me where to be.

I want to encourage you to see the value of just spending time together.  Throw out all expectations!  I heard a statement that is very true “Expectations ruin relationships.”  When we…

My Picky Eater

I have three boys, one is extremely picky, one is a little picky and one eats everything.  My extremely picky eater was a good eater when he was a baby; he became picky when he was around two years old.  There are a number of factors that come into play with his pickiness, I know I ultimately enabled him and at times I feel like a horrible mom for this.  I hate that he’s not getting a balanced diet.  I hate that he doesn’t enjoy himself as much when it comes to meal time when visiting…
