Couples Surviving the Holiday Season

With Thanksgiving around the corner and Christmas quickly following I want to encourage you to stay connected with your spouse this upcoming Holiday season.  I know it is easy to get caught up with all the shopping and get-togethers that life becomes even busier than it already is in the next few months.  It is easy to skip a date night because of school Christmas plays, family and office get togethers and even turning date night into Christmas shopping for the kids, which is fine as long…

Thanksgiving at Our House

We start Thanksgiving morning with Praise and Pancakes at our church, it is one of my favorite things about Thanksgiving.  Our church has this special service at 7 AM, we sing a few songs of worship to the Lord and then one by one whoever would like goes up front and says what they are thankful for.  Most people are in their pajamas, its nothing fancy but special.  After we give praise to God for all we have to be thankful for we enjoy pancakes together and sweet fellowship.  My father in…

How to Budget on a Fluctuating Income

At different times throughout our life, my husband has had a fluctuating income.  He has worked in the construction industry and in sales with commission only income.  I know it can be difficult to budget and plan each month, when each month your income changes and sometimes drastically.  We have had times when my husband made $7,000 in one month and then only $2,000 in another month.  …

My Birth Story-Baby #3

With my third pregnancy I learned in a greater way that each pregnancy and delivery is different.  I learned not to be in a hurry and to truly rest in God.  I had a great pregnancy with no morning sickness or complications, but because my other two boys were born before there due date, I thought for sure my third born would be born early too.   I planned and took time off work well…

Preparing Your Children

I find that my kids like to know what is planned for the day and week.  Even at a young age, ages 3, 5 and 7 like their mother who likes to know what is happening.  They do a lot better when they know the plan.

Have you ever had a child have a meltdown when leaving from visiting grandma’s or a friend’s house, or leaving a birthday party?

Ten Benefits of Budgeting

Budgeting is a basic tool for managing your finances.  Unfortunately because of the negative connotation that most people have about budgeting we avoid it.  We think of budgeting as restricting.  We think of budgeting like extra work.  I recently attended a leadership class where they taught if you know the “why” of what you are doing, then you will be better equipped to effectively complete whatever it is you are doing with purpose and direction, in knowing the why.…

Family and Holidays

When you get married, it is not only a merging of two lives but two families.  With the upcoming holidays approaching have you discussed where you will spend Thanksgiving and Christmas?
It is important to discuss this ahead of time and both decide what works for your family.  We have been taught to pray and ask God where to be which is important; we should desire to be in the right place at the right time no matter the occasion.  What if you are supposed to spend…

My Birth Story-Baby #2

We were so excited to find out we were expecting baby #2, we were excited for another blessing and excited that our son Diego would be a big brother.  I knew what a wonderful experience God had blessed me with my first pregnancy I started to stand on God’s Word and knew this delivery would be even easier now that I knew what to expect.  I used my “Supernatural Childbirth” book by Jackie Mize, every day, listened to the audio as often as I could.  I listened while I worked at my father…
