It Can Wait!

Drivers, old and young, need to hear this message just one more time...always just one more time...put the cell phone down, wait to turn that radio station to another channel, keep your eyes on the road...pay attention when you're driving. Pay attention. It's a matter of life & death. Here is a powerful PSA with the very strong message: IT CAN WAIT. Let's put an end to distracted driving!

Another Day Another Adventure: Life List Questions

Having two middle school aged boys rapidly growing before my eyes, I've learned to cherish every moment, appreciate and love every memory and look forward to what else life has in store for us. I found a questionnaire designed to make people think about their "bucket list". I've always disliked that phrase because it's in reference to "kicking the bucket". I don't want to think of my life that way. I want to think about it terms of a "to do" list. So, here are my answers.... (I've also…

Keep Rhinos Horny!

Keep rhinos wild & horny!! Did I get your attention? We need to spread awareness about the continual killing--poaching--of rhinos! These majestic animals are dangerously close to becoming extinct and what a truly heartbreaking end that would be for our planet. I'm saddened to report that their status of being an endangered species is due to human activities--mainly poaching for their rhino horn.…

A New School Year of Firsts and Lasts

Today is the beginning of a bittersweet year for this Mom. My youngest--the baby--is now in middle school. That alone is hard for me to grasp since I can still clearly see his bright shining little face declaring his need to go see "It's a Small World" at Disneyland. And my first-born, also a baby in my eyes, is officially in the 8th Grade--the last year of middle school--ready to embark on a few adventures during the year, spreading his wings & heading towards independence. I would…

The Not Impossible Choice to be a Humanitarian

What am I wearing today? What am I having for lunch? What do I make for dinner? These are just some of the thoughts that invade my mind as I open my eyes and rise out of my comfortable bed. And I'm thankful--truly thankful that my family and I live in a relatively safe environment, not overly worried about random violence and not burdened by physical deprivation. But what are others around the world faced with? What choices are they forced to make on a daily basis?…

Highlights from Las Vegas Vacation 2016

We went back to Las Vegas again this year for more desert adventures! We stayed for 4 days/3 nights and had a wonderful and relaxing time. With Vegas, you have to plan ahead and make sure you take it easy on yourself especially during the hottest parts of the day. A notable change in Vegas is that many of the Casinos on The Strip & Downtown now charge for parking. It's not terribly expensive--about 5-6$ for a few hours, but annoying when you remember the good 'ol "free" days. And also,…

An Important Message from Dan Rather about Presidential Election 2016

As a liberal Democrat Catholic Christian, one can probably imagine I would be surrounded by people will all kinds of political beliefs differing from my own. Some might even say that those labels (liberal Democrat/Catholic Christian) just don't fit in with one another. For me, they always have. It's simple, really. I often make conservative choices for myself, but I feel that others have a right to make their own choices as long as it doesn't affect the common safety of others. And when it…

Add it to Your Reading List: The Darwin Elevator by Jason M. Hough

While at this year's Comic Con International Convention, I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time and not only acquired a copy of the book The Darwin Elevator, but was also able to meet & briefly chat with the author, Jason M. Hough, while he was signing my copy of the book! What I'm also grateful for is being introduced to a book I probably would have never had the opportunity to read since I usually gravitate towards the Contemporary Romance genre in my reading…

44 Random Questions

I found another one of those random questionnaires on one of my Social Network's newsfeed & thought, well, I haven't done one of these in a while so why not? I've found that I'm a bit of a goody-two-shoes in my life choices so don't expect anything super edgy. LOL! If you care to share your answers with me, feel free. Shine the Spotlight on The Fold

When people think of theme music for an animated cartoon, most probably don't think too much about the artists making the music. If it's catchy, it may get you singing it under your breath at weird moments of the day. And if other people are around you, they may ask, "What song is that?" And then you have to mutter, "oh...it's from...um...Lego Ninjago". "The what?", they'll probably say. Here, let me show you....…

Geek Family Comic-Con Adventures 2016: Days 3 & 4

Our Comic-con adventures continue...

Day 3: I really wanted to take some awesome cosplay pics. But I learned something about myself...I'm super picky when it comes to cosplay! Who knew? In order for me to WANT to take a picture I had to like the costume and feel that it was as close to the original as possible. No disrespect to all the amazing cosplay participants. They were all wonderful for making the effort! Comic-con would not be the same without all the amazing characters walking…

A Few Liquid Refreshments to Review

Coincidentally, I was sent three products for review from PinchMe and Premier Protein arriving on the same day. I thought, perfect, I'll review them all in one post. ☺ All three products are drinkable but very different from one another. The products are: V8® Veggie Blends, V8® + Energy Orange Pineapple Lightly Carbonated, and Premier Protein Shake. Once again, these products were sent to me free of charge, but my thoughts are entirely my own. Here are my honest reviews of each…

Aim to Make Not Wasting Your Way of Life

Living in a first-world industrialized nation makes it easy to over indulge, over consume & easily squander our resources. But what's great about living in this type of society is that we are given the all-important choice to NOT do any of these things. I feel Blessed to be living in this great nation--The United States of America. I would never want those choices taken away from me, but what I'd rather do is spread awareness and increase knowledge of alternative ways of living. And this…

To Read or Not to Read, Not Even a Question

There will always be more books on my reading list than time for me to get through them. But that will never stop me from trying. You know that person who always has their nose in a book/Kindle? That's me. Well, at least most of the time, when I'm not checking off my "To Do" list, and raising good boys. Okay, let me rephrase: I'd LIKE to be that person who always has their nose in a book/Kindle. Meanwhile, here's three books I have read recently I'd like to pass on to YOUR reading lists.…

The Escape of Lego Dimensions Green Arrow

I'm so fortunate to be surrounded by creativity in the form of my favorite people: the Huz, the first-born (my 13-year-old), and "the baby" (who's 10). Their love for superheroes and Lego sets/themes go beyond just the occasional build. They collect, they research (look at reviews, video blogs etc), they anticipate release dates, and my favorite, they make stop-motion videos. ☺I especially love when they collaborate--it's beyond awesome to see them bounce ideas off each other (and yes…

Imagining Perfect Parenting

In my opinion, parenthood is the most rewarding yet the most challenging journey any person can take. The act of balancing the responsibilities of time and money is so tricky. And more often than not, parents don't feel like they've hit the mark. And ultimately, no one person's parenting is better than another. It's about the effort to give your kids better than what you experienced in life--the act of selfless love & making choices FOR them instead of ABOUT you. With that being said, I…
