November = Thanksgiving = Food.

As a recovering teacher I am constantly looking for ways to make daily chores and tasks…

Dear 2nd Children: Your Parents Do Love You

Well hello there stranger, how did you get here?

Little Lee is 6 months old. 6 months, people! I have been rocking the "I just had a baby" excuse  like a champ... I'm pretty sure 6 months ago no longer qualifies as "just". Oops!

I remember when my Big Lee turned 6 months old. I dreaded that day for months (February 5, in case you are wondering. The date is still engraved in…

R is for Rebekkah: Celebrating a Significant Life

"Retarded"- I still remember the first time I heard someone use that word and understood what it meant. I was in 5th grade waiting for the bus in front of our little house in Macon, Ga. The person using the word was a boy with my same last name that I had to sit next to in class. He was not exactly popular and he was not exactly nice and he was making fun of someone else at the bus stop (who was not, in fact, "retarded").  But all of a sudden a light bulb went off in my…

Hi friends!

Today I'm sharing my 2 year old's "chores". While I don't demand she do a list of chores before she can play or watch Sesame Street, I do encourage her to help me with laundry, dusting, sweeping, dishes, trash pick up, and tidying up around the house.

Okay- let's be honest, most days it feels like Mommy's-chores-gone-bad because I am…

Let Me Tell You A Secret

I want to be happy in this season. I want to wear a genuine smile on my face each day and not feel the prick of tears behind my eyes. I want you to ask me how I'm doing and be able to respond with a genuine "Fantastic!" But instead I feel pretty negative and fear that my blog posts push you away because I sound hopeless and…

This Is (REAL) Life

It's hard. It's messy. It's mine.

I haven't had a shower today. Or brushed my hair.  I was convinced I would make it to CrossFit at some point. And I never did. So I've been in full gym paraphernalia all day... With unbrushed hair and unbathed body.

Yes- I went to Publix like…

Dear Frances: A letter to high school you

Dear Frances-

Today I saw your picture. You just got your braces off. Your hair was down. You had a hint of make-up. And you were beautiful (and grown up). I'm not sure when that happened. I still remember the blue-eyed (screaming) baby that I adored and the 11 year old that was so excited to be in my wedding. I thought of how many wonderful things are still coming for you... And then I thought of all the hard days that are headed your way. (Continue reading… Continue

Messy Mama-school: Alphabet Farm

I'm in a bit of a conundrum. For over a month I have been planning THE CUTEST farm unit... And then my computer crashed, spent several weeks at the doctor, and returned good as new. All was good for 1 week. And my charger bit the dust. I am still waiting on my new charger. If you have noticed my pictures are a little sub-par and a lack of printables.... That is why! Sticky Shapes & Colors

I have a confession.

I get that same fluttery feeling from appliance stores that most women get from Target. I browse countertop samples, light fixtures, closet systems, and cabinets for hours. I look at molding and backsplashes and flowers. Then, right before I leave I visit  my most favorite section- the paint samples....and I collect about 100 paint chips. (I'm not even going to tell you how long those will stay in my the…
