Why My Family Won’t Be Moving To A Small Town

My hometown consisted of about 800 people. It was your typical small town that you’ve seen on TV with tractors, fields, and 15-year olds getting lit on the weekends. Seriously, you know those memes about lying to your mom saying you were at Jessica’s house when really you were in a field dying and puking up Absolut? Totally and completely accurate. Sorry, Mom! Anyway, I’d like to think that being a mom now, I’d move back for the peace and quiet, the…

Private Education: They better offer wine at PTA meetings

Apparently, you need to donate an organ or three to pay for this sh*t.

A friend of mine sent me a picture of her daughter’s tuition costs for the year – school year that is, and all I gotta say is what in the actual f*ck do these 5 year-olds get for five grand a year? Gold crayons? Plasma TVs? Personal hologram teachers? Does this also guarantee no pregnancies prior to marriage? Does it include room and board for the summer months too? They…

The initial realization that my kids are sick and that they can’t go to school or daycare is one of the most stressful moments I’ve endured throughout motherhood. Although, it is like a free, or not-so-free (sorry, but you used all your PTO to go to Hawaii last month) day off from the office. But, it comes with a few inconveniences. Ya know, like vomit and if you’re actually capable of keeping them alive and stuff. If you’re anything like me, you’ve experienced the few struggles and triumphs…

Birth Stories: They're all the same...ish

It happens all the time. You’re hanging with your group of mom friends (or those people you use as an excuse to get away from your kids) and the topic comes up: Birth Stories.

Hold my purse, Helen, because I’m about to make sure EVERY woman within a 10 mile radius knows about every vaginal laceration and how I survived a broken rib. Seriously though, that’s exactly how it is, right?!

*NOTE: Your family and friends don’t NEED to know every detail and honestly, they probably don’t…

Boy Mom: No, I Don't NEED A Daugther

Why is it when you have one or multiple kids of the same sex that people feel the need to tell you that you just have to have the other, too? Is it not common knowledge that women don’t get to choose what they’re having? Why does it matter to anyone else if I have a boy or girl anyway?! Seriously, what satisfaction do they get out of it? They aren’t going to comment “OMG I wish you would’ve had a girl!” when you post that first picture of your son on…
