I'm sure we all have a routine where we thoroughly clean our homes. Some of us may do it more frequently than others but nevertheless we have to do it from time to time. There are places that most of us forget to clean or don't feel the need to clean them often and the scary thing is that these objects are LOADED with germs that may in fact make you sick. I've made a list of 10 objects in your home that may be filled with germs, bacteria, and viruses but that we may not always remember.

COFFEE MAKER- I know we use our coffee maker regularly in our home and to be honest I don't thoroughly clean it the way I should. Coffee makers are moist environments and could develop mildew and mold (GROSS!). To clean your coffee pot, mix 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water and add it to where you'd normally put the water. Add a filter and run the coffee maker as you normally would. Discard the mixture.

CELL PHONE - Cell phones are in your hands, near your face and ears and in our pockets, purses and on different surfaces. All of these surfaces have a significant number of germs and yet we never think about cleaning our phones. You can use disinfectant wipes or alcohol pads

REMOTE CONTROL - This is another object that comes in contact with different people's hands. Hands transfer an insane number of germs that can live on your remote. Disinfectant wipes and alcohol pads will do the trick.

TOLIET HANDLE - THis is probably one of the dirtiest parts of your bathroom. We all flush and usually BEFORE we wash our hands. This can leave all kinds of germs (some harmful ones like E. Coli) and I am guilty of not cleaning the handle as often as I should. Disinfectant wipes and alcohol work great.

CREDIT CARDS - Credit cards and debit cards get passed from hand to hand every time you use it and just because your hands are clean, doesn't mean the other person's hands are. There are so many germs on your cards so be sure to wipe them down with alcohol pads.

TOOTHBRUSH HOLDERS - Your wet toothbrushes sit in the holder and can develop mold and mildew. There are also germs on your toothbrush that may continue to breed and multiply. Be sure to soak your toothbrush holders in 1 part bleach (or vinegar) and 3 parts water for 1 hour and allow to dry upside down

RUG BOTTOMS - Honestly what is the point of sweeping and mopping, if there is still so much dust and dirt under your rugs. Dirt clings to the bottoms of rugs and once you place them down, those particles are back on the floor. Vacuuming both sides of your rugs can save you from this problem

LIGHT SWITCHES - Every time you walk into a room, you probably switch on a light. Most people touch light switches more than they way their hands which can leave a whole lot of germs on them. Alcohol works great.

SALT & PEPPER SHAKERS - Most of us just refill our shakers once they are empty. We don't think to sanitize them. Place them in the dishwasher to sanitize them and be sure to wipe them clean regularly.
