When traveling with kids, you want to find a place everyone is going to be happy with, and thankfully, there are tons of destinations that appeal to children and adults alike.  What’s more, there are destinations with tons of fun things to enjoy.  Below we examine the leading travel destinations for families who want to travel with the kids in tow.

 

1. Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World Resort

 

The Disney World Resort in Florida is a family hotspot, with plenty of fun things for kids and parents.  Located in Lake Buena, the Magic Kingdom is on 107 acres of land chock-full of fantastical sites and attractions.  The park is home to thrill rides that are scary, loud, dark, spinning, and those that feature small and big drops.  Kids will love the water, slow, and thrill rides available.   There is every kind of dining experience imaginable, and you can stay in places like Disney’s Pop Century Resort or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

 

2. Disneyland

 

If there is one thing Walt Disney knew about kids, it is what makes them happy and how to keep them entertained for hours.  From riding the Disney Monorail to hopping on popular rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Disney has something exciting for people of all ages.  The park has special activities for children, and character experiences.  Kids will love playing in the Chip n Dale’s Playhouse or going on Nemo’s Submarine Voyage.  A one-day ticket for kids ten and over is just $99.00.  Kid’s age three to nine gain entry for a ticket price of $93.00 a day.

 

3. Discovery Cove

 

Orlando is so inviting to families because of all the tourist hotspots there, and the Discovery Cove is an attractive activity for families. What’s more, the Cove is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Walt Disney World, so the kids will appreciate all the fun there is to be had in one location.  The Discovery Cove is famed for its signature experiences including the Wind-Away River, Serenity Bay, The Grand Reef, and the Dolphin Lagoon, among many more.  The pricing of packages varies.

 

4. Monterey Bay Aquarium

 

If you are looking for a getaway destination that is fun and educational and you happen to be heading to California, put the Monterey Bay Aquarium on your lists of places to visit. This California family hot spot has live exhibits including penguins, sea otters, octopuses, jellyfish, sharks, turtles, birds, and more. The public aquarium is home to exhibits like the Kelp Forest, Missions to the Deep, Rocky Shore, and Splash Zone & Penguins. Children under the age of three get in for free. Kids three to 12 get in for $24.95, and adult tickets are just under $40.00.

 

5. Museum of Science

 

Another fun, entertaining, and educational family-oriented travel destination is in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts: The Science Park at the Charles River Dam. This destination features temporary and permanent exhibits, including a Butterfly Garden, Triceratops Cliff, Cosmic Light, and the live animal car exhibit. The museum is also home to the Mugar Omni Theater and the Charles Hayden Planetarium.  The Exhibit Hall is $23.00 for adults and $20.00 per child.

 

6. National Air and Space Museum

 

Yet another educational destination with a focus on science is the National Air and Space Museum. Located in Washington, DC, the museum has incredible exhibits, which are all accessible with free admission. The exhibits include Apollo 11 photographs, the Cold War Aviation Exhibit, a Commercial aviation exhibit, and more.

 

7. San Diego Zoo

 

A visit to the San Diego Zoo is a great travel destination for families.  The zoo has over 650 animal species and currently houses over 3700 wild animals. Animals are viewable in their habitats and include the Arctic Fox, Anaconda, Cheetahs, Alligators,  Leopards, Flamingos, Giraffes, Pandas, Gorillas, Bears, and birds of prey, among many others. An adult ticket for people over the age of 12 is $48 for a day pass. Ages three to 11 can get in for $10 less.

 

8. The Grand Canyon

 

The Grand Canyon is one of the best places to bring the family, especially if you love the outdoors. The views of the canyon are breathtaking, and there are tons of trails available for hiking, all of which are free. As if that were not enough, the Canyons offer rafting, kayaking and riding opportunities as well. While you are there, you can check out the North Rim, and other fantastic trails.

 

9. Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden

 

Those families who are Ohio bound might want to add the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden to their itinerary of things to see and do. The zoo houses a variety of reptiles, mammals, invertebrates, birds, fish, and amphibians. The Garden exhibits include Endangered Species Garden, Tulip Display, Rain Gardens, and more. General admission for the zoo is $16 for adults and $11 for children.

 

10. Denver Museum of Nature and Science

 

Planning a vacation in Colorado so that you can hit the slopes?  When bringing the family along, make sure you make a stop at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  Exhibits include health displays, Egyptian mummies, the Space Displays, and more.  There is an IMAX Theater and a planetarium too. General adult admission is $14.95, and kids three to 18 get in for $9.95.
