Often, people consume an unbalanced diet with tons of sugar, soda, and unhealthy snacks. All these factors may cause teeth problems that may affect their life. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the United States, more than 26 percent of adults have untreated tooth decay, this can cause an enormous amount of problems. In most cases, people eat unhealthy foods and create problems for themselves, for example, sugary foods react with plaque and form acids that destroy your enamel, which leads to tooth decay. Cheese maintains the tooth enamel with phosphates, by balancing the pH level.  Also, there is a theory that chewing cheese creates saliva, which cleans the mouth from bacterias. Milk contains calcium and other nutrients that help your enamel to be healthy. Many people lack vitamin D. Fatty fish contains a high amount of this vitamin. Also, this kind of food is a very important component of a healthy diet. Fatty fish is vital for each body system, but the biggest benefit is reducing the risk of cavities. Many people have problems with their enamel because it has weakened. Fatty fish reinforce the enamel using vitamin D, A, and K2. All fatty fish have a high percent of Omega-3, which helps to reduce symptoms of gum disease. Fatty fish includes tuna, mackerel, salmon, trout, and others.

3. Cranberries

Cranberries have an identical combination of phytochemicals that help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, periodontitis, and oral cancer. These known components are named polyphenols, and they remove harmful bacteria. A lot of studies report that cranberries are beneficial for our bodies. Cranberries and products that have a high level of anthocyanins, for example, black rice, blueberries, red cabbage, and eggplant peel, prevent attachment of bacterias on tissues and teeth. An additional fact is that cranberries’ polyphenols remain in our saliva even after we have swallowed the berry.  

4. Water

Water is a perfect replacement for soda. It cleans the mouth from sugar and bacterias. One of the best cavity fighters is water that contains fluoride. Tooth decay can be caused by a dry mouth because your mouth does not have enough saliva to clean itself after you consume food. Saliva helps wash off bacterias, which is why you should not neglect a dry mouth and drink some water. Also, water helps maintain a high saliva balance. Being hydrated is vital for good body functioning because 60 percent of our body is made of water. As an additional fact, fluoride water strengthens those pearly whites. Fluoride is found in tap water, which has been said to be safe to consume and is considered one of the top public health measures. Also, water has no calories and no sugar. A lot of people in the United States drink 1 or 2 sugary beverages per day and in the future, they may develop type 2 diabetes.
