Spring is the time when nature awakens and with all the trees and plants blooming, our bodies start feeling invigorated again. Once the long cold winter is behind us, it’s time to start getting ready for lighter clothes, better eating habits and trying to be more active once sunny days become more regular than grey afternoons. If you feel like your body is in need for some spring cleaning just like your closets are, then check out the following tips that will help you be at your best to welcome the first days of spring.

Keep moving

It’s time to quit all the excuses and start moving your body. Binge watching your favourite show may have seemed like a good idea during gloomy winter days, but you'll want to show off your abs in a few months, and laying back at home won't make buns of steel. Therefore, use the first days of spring to motivate yourself to go back to the gym, or simply start jogging in the park, to make your beach body ready before summertime. Not only will you look better, but feel more vigorous and improve your overall health. Ride a bike, call a friend to go roller-skating, or walk the dog at a slightly faster pace to improve the heart rate and bring some cardio to the mix as well.

Watch what you eat

A healthy diet should be your imperative all year long, but if you've gone off the rails during holidays, make sure you go back on track with healthy food choices, as soon as possible. Whole grains, leafy greens, fruits, and veggies are all you need for well-balanced nutrition. Your body needs a balanced intake of vitamins, fibers, enzymes, and minerals to function well, so if you’re not taking enough magnesium through your food, it would be a good idea to look for the best magnesium supplement for you and help your body feel great every day. Eating healthy, natural foods is another good idea, as they’ll give you all the benefits your body needs to function properly. Therefore, make sure you eat entire asparagus, spinach, artichokes, lettuce, melons, berries, avocado, banana, papaya, and pineapple, that spring will bring to you.

Get enough shut-eye

Sleep is vital for our well-being, which is why you should do your best to create a healthy sleeping schedule. Six to eight hours of sleep is the optimal amount your body needs to recharge and get ready for another hard-working day. Every hour of sleep you sacrifice for work or some other activities puts your body at risk of obesity, anxiety, depression and various other health problems. That’s precisely why you should try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day to create a synchronized biorhythm that will allow you to stay healthy all year long. To make sure you can go to sleep at a decent time, leave all of your gadgets including smartphones, computers, and tablets away at least one hour before going to bed, so your brain can shut down properly and allow you to fall asleep quickly after you go to bed.

Water is the source of life which is why you need to fuel your body with at least eight glasses of water a day. The amount should increase if you're actively exercising because you'll be losing more fluids through perspiration and your body will need to cool down with a refreshing sip of water. Swap high caloric beverages such as sodas, juices, and your lattes with a healthier alternative – a glass of water and maybe even add a slice of lemon to it.  It’s said that sour-tasting foods stimulate the liver Qi, so a small slice of lemon in your water will ensure a balanced liver and also add some flavor to your drink. Water will also flush out all the toxins from your organism and help you feel full for a longer time. Having a glass of water half an hour before every meal will also improve digestion.

Final thoughts

Spring is the perfect time to clean up your home but your body as well. Get rid of all the toxins through proper hydration, start working out, eat healthily and make sure you get enough shut-eye if you want to feel and good amazing all year long.
