4 Ways to Decorate Your Windows and Keep Your Privacy

Window dressing is a very important part of any interior. With the help of decorations, you can transform even the most boring window into a piece of art. But what to do if there is a crowdy street outside the window or your neighbors don’t know the word “privacy”? In this article, we gathered four ways to decorate your windows and keep your privacy as well.

1. Roller blinds

Roller blinds can be different shapes, fabrics, colors, and patterns. That’s why you can always find an option that would suit any design. There are roller blinds of standard window’s size (ready-made) or you can order custom sized design (made to measure).

If you want to keep your privacy during daylight hours, it is better to choose sheer fabric or light shades or roller blinds. They will let in enough light and hide your private life at the same time. These roller blinds are most suitable for kitchens or home offices. Roller blinds with black backing are the best option for the bedroom because they can save you from irritating morning sun rays (especially, during weekends). You can also combine them with regular curtains. In the bathroom, you can install bottom-up blinds that cover the lower part of Brooklyn windows and let the light in through the upper part.

2. Sheer voiles

Despite the fact that voiles are considered old-fashioned, properly selected texture, volume, and length of this decoration can perfectly fit almost every design. Moreover, you can create an incredible vintage look with the help of voiles and nets. In order to get the most attractive look, you can hand a floor-length voile (if you have curtains, they should be the same length). A thin curtain pole is the best option for sheer voiles. You can also use two poles if you want to hang curtains as well.

3. Shutters

Wooden shutters have been used for centuries to make the house warmer and to keep privacy. Today, there is a huge number of shutters’ designs and you will easily find one to your liking. These timeless window dressings are the most popular and attractive decorations that can be used in both houses and flats.

You can choose stutters that cover only half of window’s height or full-length shutters. Window shutters have a great possibility to beautify even the most unsightly or plain window. Curved stutters are used mostly for decoration because they let a lot of sunlight in. Shutters made from solid materials are also good for insulation and reducing heating bills. Moreover, the can protect you from noise and lights from the street.

4. Window film

If you think that window film can be used only for a bathroom window, you may be quite surprised. You can actually place a window film everywhere you want. There are a lot of different patterns, prints, and designs of film on the market. You can also choose the level of transparency or cut it the way you like. This option is the most suitable if you want to let light in and keep your privacy at the same time.

You can choose a window film with cartoon characters for the kid’s room or geometric patterns for the living room. One more advantage of this window dressing is that you can easily remove the film when it loses its look or you want to refresh the design.
