Busy moms have a hard time prioritizing themselves. There’s simply so much to do in the day and, unfortunately, mom often comes last. Sound familiar?

We’re here to tell you a secret: prioritizing your health doesn’t have to take a lot of time! Read on for our 5 favorite healthy habits for the busy mom.

1. Don’t Skip Breakfast

It may be a cliche, but it’s true: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not only can it jumpstart your metabolism, but it replenishes your glucose levels. That leaves you more alert and energetic, and ready to start the day.

Breakfast doesn’t have to be elaborate, but it should be balanced. A simple breakfast like a single serving yogurt, whole wheat toast, and a piece of fruit can give you a boost of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that will get your day started right.

2. Get Moving in the Morning

Movement is an important part of your daily routine. Exercise triggers your body to release dopamine and endorphins, two compounds that are key to our happiness. It can also help regulate your appetite, improve your sleep, and more.

Studies show that the best time to get your movement in is in the morning. For one, cortisol, a hormone that helps with your alertness, peaks at 8 AM. Additionally, morning activity often leads to a more active day overall.

Exercise doesn’t have to come in the form of a trip to the gym. Instead, it can be a seamless part of your errands for the day. Consider walking to one of your to-dos rather than driving. Have a work meeting on the go or even throw a dance party with your kids! There are all sorts of ways to get up and moving.

3. Plan Dinners for the Week

All too often, dinner time for mom means eating whatever is nearest. That could mean a few bites of your kids’ leftover chicken nuggets, some scraps from the fridge, or, worst of all, nothing. Not only will this leave you hungry, but it’s bad for your health, too.

Whole, nutrient-dense foods help regulate your mood and protect you from heart disease, diabetes, and so much more.

Put just a few minutes of time aside at the beginning of each week to plan that week’s dinners. Try to opt for dinners that are both kid- and adult-friendly. For one, this will save you from having to cook two different meals, or skipping dinner yourself. More importantly, however, this is a great opportunity to introduce your kids to new, healthy foods.

4. Incorporate CBD into Your Bedtime Routine

If there’s one thing every mom could use, it’s more sleep. After putting the kids to bed, packing lunches for tomorrow, finishing the laundry, and more, bedtime can get pretty late. A lucky few fall asleep the minute their head hits the pillow. But for most, it’s just not that easy.

If you’re tired of, well, being tired, it’s time to learn what CBD can do for you. CBD, or cannabinoid oil, is the non-psychoactive part of the cannabis plant. It offers you all of the benefits of cannabis without any of the impairment.

When combined with melatonin, CBD can be a powerful sleep aid. It doesn’t only help you fall asleep, but it helps you stay asleep, too. We love CBDfx Sleep Gummies, which are all-natural, vegan, and gluten free!

5. Make an Effort for “Me” Time

You don’t only deserve time for yourself—you need it. Putting time aside for yourself helps keep your stress lower, your mood better, and your energy higher. Not only will this help you feel better, but it will make you a better mom, too.

That’s why it’s so important to put time aside for yourself. Even if it’s just 30 minutes at the end of the day, or a random hour whenever you can swing it, get your “me” time in anytime it’s possible.

Remember that, no matter what, you’re not alone. Ask your partner or parent to watch the kids for a bit, arrange playdates for them at friends’ houses, or put them in an after-school program once a week.

It’s so important that mom has time to recharge. Not only do you deserve to feel good, but your kids deserve a mom who feels good, too.
