5 Reasons to start college while raising a family

5 Reasons To Start College While Raising a Family.

Are you thinking to start college or getting your degree? Maybe you are already busy, stay at home mom or a working mom. You are not sure if getting going back to school will fit into your schedule right now. Or you have left your education on hold to raise your children and are too scared to go back to where you left off.

There are hundreds of excuses that we can think of.

I have listed a few reasons why you should go back and get your degree now.

I feel that education is the only thing you do in life that no one gets to take it away from you.

I dropped out of high school at 16 years old. I started college at 26. It took me almost five years to finish and get my Bachelor's degree. Even though it was challenging, and I had to make a lot of sacrifices, I am forever grateful for this fantastic opportunity.

Here are a few important reasons why you should consider going back to college:

1- Job promotion/Job security

It is easier to find a job and to secure one too when you have a higher degree. Now everything is changing so fast, and most jobs require a college degree to start. Some students that were in my class were working full time while attending college. It was requested by their employer to go back and finish their degree to be able to stay with the company or get a promotion.  Most of them were parents already working full time and making time for schoolwork, family time, and everything else that most of us parents have to deal with daily.

2- Set an excellent example for your kids

Be a positive influence and a great role model for your family. Your kids are going to see that dedication and hard work pays off. My parents didn't go to college because they were not allowed to go. They didn't have the finances, and they were not allowed to go any further than high school with their education. I didn't have anyone to push me in the right direction or advice me to go and get my degree. It was only a dream of mine for many years. I am glad I got to fulfill my dream. I am also delighted that my children got to see that you can do whatever you put your mind to. You have to work hard and never give up.

3- Doing something for your ambitions and dreams

You deserve to do something great for yourself and yourself only. As a mom, we all are doing things and taking care of others all the time. It is OK to put your dreams and goal on the "to-do list" too. Yes, it is going to affect your family because of the time commitment and budget that is necessary to attend college. However, wanting to archive something in your life and working hard for it doesn't mean that it is selfish.

4-Higher income

Getting your degree means that you have a better chance for a job promotion, which leads to better pay or salary. That means that you can provide even better for your family.

5- Fulfill your dreams and goals

Finishing college was on my goal list for a long time. I am beyond thankful that I got to achieve my dream. I am most proud that I didn't give up on that dream either. Being a stay at home, mom means that you are taking care of someone else 24/7. Having the time to even think about your dreams and goals seems impossible. It is easy to forget about them altogether. However, I didn't forget, and I didn't give up. That kind of kept me motivated through the years. It was challenging, but I would do it all over again if I had to. Learning brings me joy, and I don't see it as work.

There are many more reasons why you should continue your education. These are only a few of them. I hope to have inspired/motivated you to start college or consider to go back to school no matter where you are in life right now.
