Sometimes when we log onto Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ we want to close them down forever and never look back. Like most people social media can be overwhelming and at times nearly annoying when people use it all wrong.

Yes, we do know that social media means different things to different people and everyone uses social media in their own personal ways, but there are a few don’ts we believe should be on everyone’s list of things to avoid.

Number 1: Don’t fire up chat on Facebook and ask someone to vote for you in a blogger contest, especially if you don’t really know the person. I know some blogger contests have amazing prizes, but try your best to avoid this at all costs. Instead use your Facebook page to promote your contest and even promote them if possible, or even email your blogger friends to help you promote.

Number 2: Don’t @ an entire slew of people on Twitter in hopes of people clicking your link or following you back. Really keen Twitter users can smell mass tweets a mile away and will probably block you for the fun of it.

Number 3: Don’t use bots to send auto-DMs on your behalf on Twitter. We trash all auto-DMs immediately. They’re spammy and most importantly they are ineffective.

Number 4: Don’t send in-person event Facebook invitations to people who live half way across the country or around the world. It's just pointless.

Number 5: Never, ever invite your Facebook friends to Candy Crush!
