ON THE BLOG: Foodie | Travel | Kids | Lifestyle | ReviewsTech

If you have a natural love and talent for writing, know that you could be making a lot of money as a professional blogger. It’s not uncommon for bloggers to make in the six and even seven figures from their blogs. This could be a great way for you to live out of your passion and do something you love every day.

With that being said, becoming a six-figure blogger is far from easy. It takes a lot of work and a good understanding of the blogging market too. Let's take a look at a few keys to success in the blogging world.

Monetization is Everything

Before you start blogging, you have to understand the different ways that you can monetize a blog. Ads are only one way to make money from a blog, and many other methods could allow you to make much more money.

Some people use their blogs to sell their services, for instance. Someone who blogs about making money from home may offer coaching services or seminars for instance. You could also set up a newsletter and promote relevant affiliate products from time to time.

Affiliate marketing is one of the most powerful ways to monetize a blog. You could have affiliate links and banners peppered through your site, but you could also have reviews with affiliate links or weave links naturally into your blog posts. Know, however, that you will need to add an affiliate disclosure if you want to do that so you can avoid issues with the FTC.

Pick the Right Niche

Next, you will need to find the right niche for your blog. It should be easily monetizable and have sizable demand. You should also try to narrow down your niche as much as possible without it becoming too obscure.

If you’re going to make a food blog, for instance, you can’t just make it about random recipes. You could focus on something like cooking for people with certain allergies, cooking on a budget, restrictive diets like the keto or paleo diet, or nutrition tips for bodybuilders and athletes instead. Once you’ve found a niche, you can make a list of top blogs in your niche and start researching.

Find Good Content Idea

The easiest way to know what to write about is to look at your competition. Being subscribed to a few blogs will give you tons of inspiration on what to write about. You can inspire yourself from some of their top posts to create something similar but pool your information from different unrelated sources so that your content can stay original.

Have a Broad Presence

Blogs rarely blow up on their own. They usually grow because of their owners’ constant efforts. The more active you are in the community and the wider your online footprint is, the more visibility your blog will get.

Go on other blogs and get active in the comments. Try to build a relationship with the owners and get guest blogging opportunities. Take care of your social media accounts and constantly release content. Get on Reddit and post some of your blogs as a resource. After a while, your blog should start getting more attention.

Think for the Future

You should also know that you could sell your blog after a few years if it’s profitable, so always manage it with that in mind. The most important thing will be to have as many revenue streams as possible and monitor them properly.

There are some common website valuation practices and things like intellectual property will play a very important part here. If you can throw in some sort of report or course into the mix and have lots of original content, this will significantly increase the value of your site and its desirability.

If you want to be successful as a blogger, follow our advice. Remember that it’s hard work and that nothing happens overnight, so be prepared to go out there and constantly perfect your craft.
