Your kid’s room is a space where they can play, dream and relax and - most importantly - it’s their space to have fun. There are some easy ways you can help to make your child’s room an exciting space for them. Consider these creative hacks if you want to transform their bedrooms.
A reading corner
Adding a reading corner is the perfect way to give your child a comfy place to read - and a space to encourage them to pick up a good book and get the reading habit. You can get really creative with your reading corner. One option is to attach a canopy to the ceiling and place a few cushions on the floor beneath. Alternatively, you can add a teepee to the room if it’s big enough - this is especially cosy for small children.
Add a play rug
A play rug is a great way to combine fun and games with a practical bedroom essential. Look out for rugs which have roads and roundabouts on them (the most fun!). Ensure you have all of the cars and any other toys easily accessible in boxes either under the bed, on low-level shelves or on wheels. You can even include a few throw cushions for them to sit on when they play.
Chalkboard wall
One way to decorate the walls is to simply add a chalkboard wall. This is a fantastic solution that lets your child show off their creativity. Add some floating shelves so they have a place to store their chalk and rubber too. Plus, while a chalkboard wall adds a great statement to the room, it can also prevent children from doodling in other parts of the house where they shouldn’t.
Add a mural
An alternative wall decoration is to add a mural. This adds so much fun to a room and can be tailored to your child’s interests. If they love animals you can add a jungle mural, or if they love the beach, you can add a seaside scene. You can go bright or keep it monochrome - and pick furniture to match either way.
Choose furniture that’s flexible
Speaking of furniture - one great hack is to invest in items that have a double use. A divan bed is perfect for a child’s room as the built-in storage is ideal for their toys or clothes. If your children share a room, you can even create the ultimate sleepover by investing in zippable beds from Divan Beds Centre. This can turn a single bed into a double - providing the perfect location for a fun movie night for your kids and their friends.
Smart storage
Low-level floating shelves are a great way to add storage which is accessible for your child. Let them decide what goes on them: books, soft toys, decorations. That way they can add their own flair to their room. It also means they can reach their items on their own and put them away without your help.
