Some different foods and beverages contain calcium, but the most popular are dairy products (milk, cheese, etc). If you don’t want to have more calories during the day, you should try low-fat or even fat-free products.

5. Avoid dry mouth

Dry mouth or xerostomia is a medical condition that implies a lack of saliva in your mouth. This condition happens when your salivary glands don’t make enough saliva. Saliva helps you to prevent tooth decay, bacteria growth and helps to get away with food debris. Lack of saliva may affect your overall health, that is why you shouldn't neglect this problem. Ask your dental specialist what you can do about this problem. In most cases, dentists recommend to suck sugar-free candies or chewing gums, use special mouth rinses, or even take medicine.

6. Stay hydrated

Water is the most important beverage during the day. Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. In general, a person should drink at least 3 liters per day. Plain water has 0 calories and sugars. It helps us to remove harmful substances from the body.  You should try to replace all sugary drinks with plain water. It will help you to reduce calories during the day and acid in the mouth.

Good oral hygiene requires regular check-ups. It is vital to prevent severe health problems or to treat them in the early stages. Many dental problems have no symptoms, but they can affect your oral health. If you have any changes in your mouth you should contact a dental clinic.
