A Dream Of Steam by James Barry is inspired by true events. Barry is a career sailor and rigger who has designed historic ship sets for movies and museums. This is his debut novel, inspired by the story of the Moiles brothers who committed a crime to save their business from creditors. Barry does take some creative license with historic events, which he fully admits, but aims to remain as true to the original story as possibly as he puts his own spin on it.
The novel, which opens in 1891 and continues into 1893, is broken down into four “books” or sections, each taking place in a different season and starting over again with chapter one.
