Can CBD Products Help Your Furry Friends?

Not only human doctors, but also holistic veterinarians have been practicing CBD products such as CBD oils, gels and the like on curing pets. In fact, many people have been referring to it as “miracle medicine” or “all around medicines”.

Recently, it’s been found out that CBD also has anti-cancer effects both to humankind and animals. However, there are further studies that should be conducted. Moreover, here are 4 reliable reasons why CBD products help your furry friends.

Antianxiety and antidepressant

Pets, like humans, also suffer from psychological problems like phobias. For instance, dogs can be affected with separation anxiety, travel anxiety, noise anxiety and many more. The sources of animals’ phobias are really different from those of the humans, but still they cause physical symptoms and stress to your pets.

Barking (for dogs) persistently, chewing things excessively such as shoes, rubbish or furnitures, being aggressive, urinating and defecating abnormally, having tremors, or doing similar repetitive behavior are some of the common symptoms of anxiety that your pets might show.

In order to solve anxiety, most people and pets would be recommended to intake anxiety medications. These medicines would target a kind of serotonin receptor called 5-HT1A that would boost serotonin levels in one’s brain, which would make people or pets less anxious.

Many studies claim that CBD can also temporarily increase serotonin level that can manage mental condition of a person or an animal and contains the same compound similar to that anxiety medicines.

These compounds are believed to lessen stress felt by either humans and animals, due to its antianxiety and antidepressant effects. For instance, there is one CBD Drip product called ECOPETS - Calm & Comfort that can help your dogs feel at ease.

CBD is a natural anticonvulsant, also called anti seizure or antiepileptic drugs, for both humans and animals. Multiple studies have shown that as an anticonvulsant, it helps to control your pets’ spasticity generated from multiple sclerosis, and the tremors and tics caused by Tourette’s syndrome.

Additionally, CBD can also help to manage the seizures of your pets that are prompted by epilepsy. Seizures happen due to the high-speed and uncontrolled firing of neurons in the brain. CBD, as a lot of studies asserted, can prevent the onset of seizures by restoring the neurons in order.

Pets, not only humans, also suffer from nausea and vomiting. These two are one of those serious symptoms that can lead to dehydration, decrease of appetite, rapid weight loss, fatigue, and other worse cases. Aside from that, these can be the outcomes of certain situations or treatments that are undergone by your pets, such as chemotherapy.

Antiemetic drugs are one of those medications that are often effective in handling nausea and vomiting. Antiemetic medications such as acepromazine, chlorpromazine, aminopentamide and others are typically the ones given to dogs and cats when they’re feeling nauseous.

However, these medications can cause various side effects to pets such as strong sedation, hypotension, excessive drooling, lethargy, diarrhea, lack of appetite and minimized seizure thresholds for epileptic animals.

Fortunately, studies show that CBD is a better antiemetic compared to other traditional antiemetic medications. What makes it different and far better than others is that it stimulates the appetite of animals and human beings while controlling nausea and vomiting.

Based on some researches, CBD stimulates 5-HT1A receptors. This is the same receptor that decreases anxiety. After activating this receptor and with a prolonged stimulation of the CB1 cannabinoid receptor in both human and animal’s brain, CBD can significantly lessen your pet’s nausea and subdue successive vomiting reflex.

Analgesic, commonly known as painkiller, is a drug that can relieve pain. It operates in different processes on the peripheral and central nervous systems. Nowadays, one the best analgesic for humans and pets is the CBP.

CBD is now considered by many medical scientists as a new kind of medicine that can relieve chronic pain including neuropathy and nerve-related pains. Many studies on CBD concluded that the cannabinoids in CBD work effectively for easing and eliminating pain.

Many doctors also stated that CBD can increase anandamide, a chemical compound that lessens pain signals in the brain. Meaning, increasing anandamide would also reduce pain sensations in a human or animal’s body.

In addition, studies showed that CBD can effectively lessen the impact of inflammation on oxidative stress that can cause degeneration and premature aging, lessen inflammation in acute pancreatitis, and lessen intestinal inflammation that is typically associated with irritable bowel diseases.

To sum up, CBD products that can aid epilepsy and seizures, prevent and kill cancer cells, reduce anxiety, relieve pain, help with bowel movement, reduce inflammation, protect nervous system, increase appetite and make one’s heart healthy are not only applicable to human being but to animals, as well.
