"Since the book involves everyday activities, it wasn’t difficult to think of different scenarios for each concept I present. Getting places, doing household chores, going shopping, engaging in different sports activities, and visiting various types of businesses are things we all do, and I just infused these activities with the silly choices the main character had to make to drive the story forward. I think the really time-consuming part was getting the rhymes perfect as far as meter and perfectly rhyming words are concerned. That part is always challenging for those of us who write in rhyme. Sometimes I have to rewrite a stanza fifty times to get it right. I’m also aware that many editors dread receiving rhyming stories because they see so many with uneven meter, poorly rhyming words, and phrases constructed awkwardly to make them rhyme. So I’m always careful to do rhyming stories right. It took me around two years of writing stanzas, setting them aside for days or weeks, and coming back to them to revise them, before I considered the book ready to submit to publishers."
