I've mentioned plenty of times before that our toddler is dino-obsessed to the max (check out her Toddler-Saurus shirt here), so for her birthday this year we're of course going with a dinosaur theme. I'm eternally grateful for my Cricut because you can't just stop on over at Party City and pick up girl dinosaur birthday party decor, therefore I'm getting creative and making a good chunk of it myself.
Starting with these:
These little hatching dinosaur eggs are absolutely adorable! When I put the first one together Hailey was full on laugh crying she was so excited. "Daddy! Is a baby dinosaur egg!"
The best part is that the image was already ready to go right in Design Space. If you don't already have
Cricut Access you will need that to be able to use this preset image/project.
Here are the supplies that you will need for this project:
Here's how you find the image/project:
My first thought was to go to projects to look for invitations, but there is a very limited selection to choose from for themed invitations. However, I know from watching endless tutorials from
Melody Lane that they have
TON more project options in the image cartridges that are not featured on the main page.
There's a couple different ways to find the baby dinosaur egg.
- I came across it just by going to images and entering dinosaur into the search bar. I was honestly just scrolling through to see all the options they had because I thought I might have to invent my own invitation, but low and behold there it was.
- You can also filter your search to cartridge specifically and type in dinosaur and it will narrow it down to the full cartridge.
- Or... if you're lucky enough to be reading my post here, below you will see exactly how to find this specific image/project.
Also, as you can see, it also has an envelope that you can create with it. I skipped this since the invitations were just going out to a classroom full of toddlers, but if you're officially mailing these out its the perfect finishing touch.
Lastly, you will add your own text with your party information. I used the turquoise, magenta, and pink crystal from the
Fine Point Pen Set. Since this is more detailed instead of colored in I do highly recommend using the fine point pens, even if it's not the same colors, to make sure things don't smear.
IMPORTANT TIP:
Make sure you ATTACH the writing though to the white egg or it will not write your text in the correct spot!
I hope you enjoy this project as much as I did and feel free to send me an email or private message through any of my social options shown on the left hand side if you have any questions about what I did.
