Does Metabolism Matter in Weight Loss?

Have you ever met people complaining about their metabolism slowing down and barely eating anything, but still gaining weight? Or people who eat junk food the whole day but are still in shape due to fast metabolism? In both cases, people think this is unfair to them.

What is Metabolism?

A series of chemical reactions in a living being to create and break down energy necessary for life is called a metabolism or metabolism rate. Simply, metabolism is a process in which your body converts the food you eat into energy.

Yes, metabolism is linked to weight, but it is outside of the control of an individual. Some people inherit genes that promote a faster metabolism, as a result, they can eat more than others without gaining weight. Others are not that lucky and have a slow metabolism.

Our body always keeps running and requires energy to keep going. The human body uses calories in the food we eat and beverages we drink as an energy source. The body may use this energy right away and can save some for later in form of fat.

How to Get Healthy Metabolism?

Metabolism regulates itself to fulfill the body's needs. People often complain about slow metabolism, but it is because of excess weight. Along with a balanced diet and enough exercise, people can get what they need to lose weight and have a healthy metabolism. Here are some of the tips to improve your metabolism.

Don't Starve Yourself

If you skip your meal, your metabolism adapts quickly and uses fewer calories for functioning. When restricting too many calories, the body starts to break muscles for energy which can cause slow down metabolism.

Eat Protein, Fiber and Healthy Fats

Eating a low-calorie but balanced diet enriched with nutrients like protein, fiber, and healthy fats can increase the metabolism rate. Use a meal replacement shake designed for weight loss while having enough nutrients and fewer calories to complete the body's needs.

Quit Bad Habits and Train

Enough exercise helps to burn the calories you eat while losing weight and building muscles. Also, bad habits like smoking decrease the risk of cancer, heart attack and other diseases. A healthy body is the key to a healthy metabolism.
