How to prepare and store organic baby food?

As much as preparing your own baby foods is time-consuming and it might get out of control once you have more than one baby, it is usually fun and very simple. In addition, this is one of the surest ways to ensure that your baby is eating fully organic foods. Once you get used to preparing the baby food puree, you will find that it is quite simple and does not take so much time. In case you lack enough time to prepare organic baby food, or you are traveling, you can go to babystuffzone.com to get purely organic foods for your baby.

Preparing the food.

Preparing homemade baby food puree is very simple as all you need is; once you cook the food, let it cool for a while and then toss it into a blender or a processor. You can also use a stick mixer to blend your baby’s food according to your creativity and as the age of your baby allows.

You can put sweet potatoes, apples and add some breast milk in your puree. This will not only improve the taste but it benefits the baby a lot in boosting their nutrition and body health.

Steps followed when making baby food puree.

  • Steam, bake, microwave or boil your veggies or fruits. This ensures that all the nutrients are maintained.
  • Put the steamed vegetables or fruits in your mixer. The liquid should be set aside as it is added to make the puree. This liquid helps in preserving all the nutrients that may have leached into the water during the cooking.
  • As you blend, add the liquid, some plain water or breast milk. This is important in adding the nutritional boost to the puree.

Storing the baby food puree.

You should not at any point freeze any homemade baby food in a glass that is not labeled as “safe to freeze”. Once you have the correct and recommended container for freezing your puree, below are some of the steps that you should follow.

  • After the puree is ready, it should be transferred into the ice cube trays for storage. All cubes should be filled with puree just like how you fill water in the cubes.
  • Using a plastic wrap, cover the tray and put it in the freezer. This process should be repeated until all the trays are filled and there is no puree remaining.
  • Each cube weighs about 1 ounce of food. Once they are frozen, remove the trays from the freezer and transfer these cubes into freezer bags.
  • Ensure that these bags are labeled with the preparation date and the food type. These food cubes should be used within one month from the date of preparation.
  • During the feeding, you will only need to take the number of cubes that your baby will need and just reheat.
