Being a great dad can be tough work! Between long hours at the office, keeping up with projects around the house/yard, helping the kids with homework or that perfect pitch and taking turns shuttling the kids to afterschool activities and games, there’s lots to do! So what better way to make sure they know just how much they’re admired and appreciated than by finding funs ways to celebrate all they do on Father’s Day? Because it can be challenging to find the perfect way to show our dads just how much they mean to us, we put together a quick list of fun ideas for you and the kids to help make him feel like greatest dad in the world - just like his coffee mug says!
Play the Back Nine
Does Dad loves golfing? Treat him to a day on his favorite course and play the back nine with him. Getting your dad out there on the course will be the perfect opportunity to get some one-on-one time with him. Golf is a tranquil activity (most of the time) in which you are surrounded by nature. It is a great way to reduce stress, anxiety as well as boosting happiness levels. Plus Dad probably still has a few tricks in his bag to teach you out there on the course!
Cast a Line
If Dad loves fishing, pack a picnic lunch and take him somewhere where you can also spend some quality time outdoors as a family, such as local pond, river or lake. Fishing is one of the most peaceful and rewarding of all outdoor sports. It’s also a great family photo opportunity, so be sure to bring your camera so you can snap pictures of him holding the biggest fish of the day and frame it. You could also bring all the fish you catch home, and round out the day with a fish fry!
Take Him Out to the Ball Game
Does Dad love America’s Favorite Game? Grab him, some cracker-jacks and cheer on the home team at your local pro or minor league team! Celebrate the win (or the adventure) with a commemorative jersey and invite Dad to relive his favorite moments from games past!
Celebrate the Grill Master
They say the way to any man’s heart is through his stomach. Let Dad enjoy all his favorites by having a family brunch or barbecue. Feature hearty treats that will bring a smile to his face and a reason to prop his feat up and take a nap in the recliner.
Take a Hike
If Dad spends a lot of time indoors, behind a computer screen, go for a hike and enjoy some of the spectacular beauty that Mother Nature has to offer. This will give him a great chance to disconnect with technology and enjoy the outdoors. Plus, there’s nothing more relaxing than hiking a scenic trail, breathing in the fresh air, and relaxing at a quiet and peaceful oasis at the end of the hike.
Dads are role models and pillars of strength and inspiration. Make sure their hard work and efforts don't go unnoticed! We hope these ideas have helped you think of some fun ways to show him just how much you care!
