When you want to give your home a revamp, there are lots of things to consider and a whole number of different things you can try out. Sometimes, you don’t want to completely overhaul your house, and instead make simple changes that have a big impact. So, if you’re thinking about giving your home a facelift, keep reading and discover our fresh ideas that will really spark your inspiration.

Upgrade Your Heating

One the biggest changes you can make to your home is your heating, and it can have a massive impact on your daily life. Why not switch out your old plain radiators to some fancy new vertical radiators instead. These can actually heat a room up much more efficiently and they make a statement on the wall. Radiators don’t just have to be about how well they keep you warm nowadays either. There are so many unique and interesting designs out there that can actually work as standalone items of furniture in your house. So, if you’ve got an old, boring radiator, why not treat yourself to something new and exciting? You’ll definitely feel and see the difference right away!

Bring In New Light

Lighting plays a huge role in the overall ambience of a room. Too bright and it gives you a headache, but too dim and you’ll end up straining your eyes. So, why not really brighten up your whole home and splash out on some new lighting fixtures. You could even dot around some funky looking lamps to add some light to the darkest corners of each room. Chandeliers are a great way to bring some elegance to your home as well as a glowy light. Try standing lamps as well as these can work brilliantly as a focal point of the space too. When it comes to standing lamps, the bigger the better! Another way to bring in more light is by changing up your curtains. In the summer, trying switching out your heavy velvet ones for lightweight nets, allowing the sunshine to come in during the day. Natural lighting can be super effective at making a room feel bigger as well, showing just how important light really is.

Brighten Up Dull Walls

As well as playing with light to brighten up the room, why not bring the walls to life to too. You could do something as simple as hang a few pieces of art on the wall to breathe a whole new vibe into the room. You could even go as far as creating a gallery wall and completely plaster it in photos and art. This really shows off your personality and gives the room an edge. If you prefer more simplistic, clean walls, why not change up the colours instead. If you’ve got plain white walls, why not try out a pastel lemon or a soft stone colour instead. This can help add warmth and depth to the room, which is something white struggles to do. A statement wall can be a great way to bring some much needed change to a room without completely rehauling it. You could try some floral wallpaper on one wall or if you prefer things a little darker, you could go for a dark navy or forest green paint. Murals can also be a fabulous of bringing a whole bunch of personality to the room too. So, make sure you show off your interior design skills by making your walls stand out.

Mix Up Fabrics And Textures

When it comes to interior design, you might think that you have to stick to certain rules and can’t shake things up a little. However, this is far from the case! Rules are made to be broken, so don’t be afraid to think out of the box. Try mixing different textures together to create a room that has layers to it and doesn’t fall flat. Something as easy as having a gorgeous leather sofa with a glass coffee table paired with velvet curtains and shaggy carpet can craft a breath-taking view. Playing with textures can be extremely fun and removing limitations from your creativity will only help it flourish and be reflected in your home.

Innovative Furniture

When it comes to furniture itself, try to go for things are multi-functional. If you’re redoing your bedroom, make use of beds that have storage underneath or if you’re revamping the living room, go for coffee tables that have drawers cabinets with built-in mirrors. These little touches can really make a difference to the amount of space you have as well, in turn making the room feel bigger. Making a move towards furniture that enhances rather than hinders the space can be just sort of change your home needs!

Do-Up Furniture

You also don’t need to splash out on all new furniture to give your house a facelift. Instead, you can take on some DIY projects yourself and do-up what your currently have. You could sand down that old wooden chair you have and re-paint it, upholster it, and turn it into something completely new. By up-cycling your old furniture, you’ll also have something that no one else has either, giving your home a unique finish that can’t be copied. You could even head to your local second-hand stores and pick up some old pieces and do them up yourself. Not only are you getting something handmade by you and unlike anything you can buy in the shops, but you’re also doing your bit for the environment.

It isn’t too hard to make these changes to your home all by yourself, so you don’t have take on something like a renovation project just to give it a small makeover. Sometimes the smallest changes can actually have the biggest impact. For instance, changing the colour of one wall can elevate the entire room and it only took a minimal amount of time and effort. There isn’t that much that a lick of paint can’t do, and when that’s pair with an up-cycled piece of furniture and a feature wall, you can’t go wrong. Why not give some of these tips a go and you’ll definitely see the difference they make to your home immediately!
