PBS Has Great, New Resources for Hispanic Heritage Month Including Children's Books and Recipes

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize the history, culture, and contributions of more than 54 million U.S. Latinos.

PBS LearningMedia and PBS KIDS for Parents have several free, online resources parents can access to celebrate Hispanic heritage all year long, including:

  • A video that summarizes the origin, purpose and many ways Americans recognize Hispanic Heritage Month, part of PBS KIDS’ All About The Holidays series (available in English and Spanish).
  • A list of recommended picture books that celebrate Latino voices and culture.
  • A lesson in Flamenco dance, a traditional style of dance and music that originated in Spain.
  • A series of episodes highlighting Mexico City and Peru from beloved PBS KIDS show Let’s Go Luna.
  • Recipes from Puerto Rico including for Mofongo and frozen treat Piragua
