We love books that treat moms like grown-ups. Yes, we like an occasional cocktail from time and time. And when we get a really great martini we've been known to go back for another.
The Big Book of Martinis for Moms is a tome of over 175 martini recipes mixed with the fun and not-so-fun experiences we all go through as mothers. For example, when you effectively negotiate a full serving of veggies in your child's mouth, you might want to celebrate with a cucumber martini. Or, when you run the class bake sale you may top your evening off with a snickerdoodle martini.
Divided into twelve chapters from bedtime feats to feats for the great outdoors, the authors Rose Maura Lorre and Mavis Lamb, suggest creatively named and designed martinis to coincide with experiences we all have as mothers. We love that there are a seemingly endless mix of martinis to choose from from sweet dessert drinks to cocktails that are more on the bitter side. With this book of drink recipes you won't have to drink the same martini twice for quite some time.
We loved that Big Book of Martinis for Moms had beautiful photographs of the martinis. While each drink doesn't have a respective photo there are enough to keep you interested and turning more pages to see more recipes, especially the ones that make you think of cake (birthday cake martini) and cookies (oatmeal cookie martini).
In all, the Big Book of Martinis for Moms is an exceptional reference book of drink recipes when you want your very own happy hour. And, provides a wonderful reason to have the girlfriends over.
